I liked that krs used his event to stimulate ideas before the party broke out. big ups to all those who showed up at 6pm and hung around until they showed up. it was worth the wait in my opinion, just to hear the feelings and thoughts of those present.
props to the Temple of Hiphop for letting erbody know they are the future and the future is right now. hiphop is making mad cash for the system and hasn't of yet presented its own agenda for the quality of life of its nation.
the floor is now open locally, to begin to build that agenda and put all the powers that be on notice that the Nation of Hiphop has arrived and these are the things we care about.
to my sistah from columbia: we talked about getting things rolling and I am down to assist. hope you hooked up with girl outside she seems to be ready to build something too.
to the White girl who asked krs about co- opting hiphop: remember what krs said to you, just represent yourself and you mission proudly wherever you are. let others worried about your intent long as you on point no problem.
on to the show
Joe and his crew were in amazing form as was everyone who rocked their hi may I help you shirt to show support. There sure were a lot of um
krs brought that party flava right on down from the first to the last.
can't say enough about him yes I am a fan of his and his mission
peace

I loved the show...

That show made my month. I got such a dose of hiphop last night. I felt I could have gone with it til sunrise and on, but, you know...jobby-job and all that. And I can't remember the last time I saw a live act of KRSs stature bring on all the local talent to the stage to represent. He really makes hiphop feel more like community than commodity. My favorite shit was him breaking down '73 to '86, line for line. And with Busy Bee up there, the history present was just astounding. Fucking fantastic shit....
...and I got a free autographed poster, haha! I haven't been this much a fan in years.

...lucid, i was all about that year-by-year breakdown too, and it reminded me of something Joe Jackson's been talking about: creating an "official" Kansas City Hip Hop timeline. We'd have to ask some super back-in-the-day folks to try and figure out what comes first, though. what do you think?

this I think would produce an excellent beginning time line, something that could be filled in until it really reflected our local story
this project would go a long way in preserving our history and end the notion that ain't nothing really happen here. we have a hellava story in the kc metro.
I would encourage each city included in the metro to take up this process, when it nears completion, I will create a special section on the site to host these stories for any and all to read and take pride in
metro means you if you want it to period let's build UNITY from this spot

That'd be a tight project to undertake. I know I personally lack the time right now, but it could be a good "over time" investigation. When I came to KC (98?), Heet Mob was rocking house parties, and DVS Minds was opening up for shows at the Granada. Simile Assembly was just formed and getting into skirmishes with CES CRU in residential streets. General Ali was spittin the most ridiculously sick rhymes I'd heard at that point. Seven Fold Symphony was performing every week. Mardi Gras was poppin off and emcees crashed house parties busting over house and jungle music. Everything leading up to this point is a mystery to me, I'd be really curious to know more of the history...
