Topic: Artists, Be Aware of This Promoter!

Stacy Robertson. Do not book shows with this promoter. Not only did she not pay us for our show this thurs. @ the Jasshaus, but she also broke our contractual agreement. This is the first time that something like this has happened to us, so lesson learned. Artists, if you are not aware of the business practices of a promoter then you need to paid up-front! And if it is Stacy Robertson then I strongly suggest that you not do that show. Artists that were also not paid that night: Reach, Nezbeat, and Johnny Quest.

Good lookin. Also be aware of [b:6fb2f0f12b]Jeff Harris[/b:6fb2f0f12b]. About 4 years ago our old producer/DJ was bookin shows for us and we ended up gettin ahold of this cat. He was a music/band manager in LA for a long time so he does have mad plugs, but peep this. Alright, I get a call from this cat about 10pm one night and Im thinkin huh this is wierd cause homeboy is straight businessman, so you would never expect him to contact you that late. He told me he had just gotten back from LA and a Miramax Films rep was interested in one of my beats. I never talked to him after that, dude straight vanished. ??? If you hear a JDFlow beat in the background of a movie GET AT ME!

I feel bad now. This is actually my second bad experience with her promotions. She booked me for a show in LK a while back. Played stupid at the end of the night like she didn't know she'd made me a guarantee. Got real busy behind the bar. I stood there until I got my money. I was paid for that night, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. I should've said something about that last night. Early on... My apologies to everyone on that bill.

Since we're on the subject, do not book shows with Mz. Reno/Shalitha Talley. She works rappers, like farmers work mules. Dangles the carrot in front of you (i.e. the promise of payment.) And like the mule, you're ass out in the end. Pun intended.

Since this is coming up, are there other local promoters who don't keep their word from the artists perspective? this is really helpful information. Maybe as we try to be more biz like as artists, we could begin to hold others to their contracts with us.

Folks should also watch out for Jarrett Fulton. In my expierience he has trouble following through on his word, and terrible at staying in communication with people about booking, changes, cancellations, and he has a tendency to use personal issues for as for excuse for bad business.
