no radio play, no consistent venues, no supportive media coverage, lines drawn in the community itself? I said mine say yours. . . . . here peace nrg[addsig]

I urge all artists to get flash drives. Dutch brought in a flash drive at the peanut tonight and ataxxic upped it into his serato and played his new joint (which is a very bold move, Dutch, I commend you for it if you're reading this. Some might even say you're jumping on the hipster bandwagon for doing it, but fuck it). I agree with Flare about pushing KKFI to do more. I think this has already been discussed here before. But yea, I think KKFI could do a LOT more for new underground music. I'm going to ask the EDM kids in KC if they'd be down for a similar movement on their website. By the way, I think the peanut clansman have gotten to the point where they've taken HH&HW for granted. That includes everyone involved at the peanut, particularly the patrons. PEACE

the radio presence has been increasing from four years ago, you got ms shai doing saturday nights and also some thursday nights. You have kenny diamondz on kprs playing alot of locals on friday and saturday nights with underground heat(don't hate he is one of the nicest kats I know). Venue wise, ever since that incident happened at skybox, a recent incident at a club in lawrence and press about hip hop venues(there have been plenty, don't just accuse one they have been at least 3-4 articles and major television exposure about venues who play hip hop). Alot of cats here are prodcuation for gold and platinum acts and have reached out to the media, but they felt like they were pushed to the side because the didn't fit an "image". Many kansas city artists have been getting exposure in media outside of kansas city(dj fresh was just in Ozone Magazine, I was in disclosure news magazine about a month or 2 ago and i know of a few others cant think right now).A few people are working to break a barrier of underground/mainstream but we have to make moves like the underground railroad because everytime you try to bring change to this market, there is always resistance and that is why this market hasnt grown for a while. I respect dutch for being on the jump drive game, not alot of cats are on that. I only can think of one other artist who has done that, ive discussed that with plenty in this city. People are working outside of the city and networking to bring it home, its a few cats in this city who have deals signed and i know some label reps are working to help out, but when it happens, you will see or be blinded by the light please do not repost or use in any form of written or electronic communication without prior consent of Dj Shad Peace Dj Shad

I have to tell people to send me text messages to remind me to listen. And even then, I can't listen to the whole thing cuz I've always got something going on during the show. It's like 9-11 pm on saturday nights right? I listen to KKFI enough. I've heard the hip hop thing they do on thursdays, saturdays, and Michael T Justice's talk show late night on the weekends, and electronic elevation on wednesday nights. I don't have any suggestions, just throwing it out there.

If cats give me stuff that's actually dope, I will play it on my radio show. It's BLACK CLOVER RADIO on 96.5 the Buzz every Sunday night from 9 pm to 10 pm. We get a shitload of listeners, and have been doing it for 2 years. Email CLEAN tracks to [email protected]. Do not send more than 2. Make sure they are dope. Give me artist information. Do not flood my email box with shit, please. I get a considerable amount of emails every day. Please just send your 2 best songs, and I will see what I can do.

^^^I urge all MCs to not sleep on that I'm sending you an email right now. In related news, I asked the EDM kids on their website about getting kkfi and the buzz to do more for the dj community and the thread got over 130 replies in less than 24 hours. It's the most productive discussion on that site in a long time.

link chris? thanks btw Are any of the people posting familiar with or currently involved through volunteering with KKFI do they ever donate time, money, knowledge music or anything to KKFI chris if you would introduce these ideas into that thread, it might get the ball rolling towards a group show. volunteering is a must to even be considered for a proposed show there its not a commercial station, its a non profit organization that boasts 100,000 watts of power the potential is huge for a group willing to invest time and energy there just thought a little real information might spur things on peace [size=18:f1abaf26dc]This ABOVE information is for anyone interested in GETTING INVOLVED in and volunteering to ensure community radio's growth in the kc metro.[/size:f1abaf26dc] KKFI are the last free airwaves for miles and miles ms. shai is doing a bang up job as a programmer, but it all started with her showing up at kkfi with sleeves rolled up to pitch in, get the necessary training, and prove the skills PROPS TO MS. SHAI FOR HER COMMITTMENT TO KKFI'S MISSION, FOCUS ON LOCAL HIPHOP, AND CONSISTENCY WITH BOTH.
