Topic: Guns

so today i bought one of these:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remington_870
i'm hoping i made a good decision. i wanted an ak-47 since joe biden is probably going to reenact the assault weapons ban, but i didn't see any that i liked and could afford. i also wanted a glock 22 (.40 cal, it's what most kc cops use) but i thought i'd probably kill myself if i got drunk and depressed enough and had it lying around, so i guess i'll put that off for a while. i think a shotgun, should i need it for home defense sooner than later, is a good choice for a starter because it's got stopping power and doesn't require a whole lot of accuracy. i do hope to own a rifle, a shotgun, and a pistol - at least one each - since they've all got different applications and i want to be prepared... and i'm choosing my first models mostly by rumored reliability. i've never been in the military, and i don't expect to ever be an expert in cleaning and maintaining these things, nor do i hope to have to use them very often, so i need them to be able to function in an emergency even if they haven't been kept up to strict military code.
and yes, i did buy it primarily because of the upcoming election. if the election goes either way; if obama gets assassinated; if the economy spirals into worse chaos, i figure i'm gonna need to protect my canned goods from marauders.
i guess this thread can also be about gun control since i already brought it up. i actually don't understand why liberals are so interested in gun control. do you really want cops and reactionary fundamentalist rednecks to be the only ones that have guns if the shit hits the fan? what if your military gets turned on you, the citizen? do you really want to be herded by stormtroopers? all i'm saying is... the second amendment really does exist for a reason unrelated to hunting. i'm actually surprised how much republicans support guns if they're really the fascist imperialists i suspect them to be.
i also understand that the united states has an abnormally high instance of shooting murders... but look at jamaica and england... crime rates went up since guns were banned. people are still gonna find ways to kill and rob whoever they want. knives and whatnot are actually probably more deadly. plus it makes guns a great advantage to criminals or whomever, and kids are going to find interesting ways to make their own weird-ass firearms (you should see some of the crazy shit they put together in england). focus your attention on education and a more egalitarian economy, that's how your crime rate is going to be lowered.
i'm not saying you should go out and buy one right now. if you don't like them, if you have children in the house, etc... but i think the partisan divide in this country has obfuscated the actual rationale of the issue into a cloud of nonsense. but maybe i'm just a damn dirty commie.
and let us not forget, the zombies could rise at any moment.

this is crazy. i almost made a post on here about the same thing, with the same thread title. only i haven't bought a gun. but i was gonna talk about three people i know that have bought guns just within the past few weeks. you're even hearing more on radio commercials about guns at pawn shops and places that sell guns.
bottom line: all the people i know who've bought guns in the past few weeks did so because they thought some crazy shit is about to go down.
Someone commented to me back when obama won his party about "Obama's value as a martyr." I can't really remember the discussion well. But I asked a couple demencha writers if they'd want to do a piece on this and they said that was not the time to touch something like this.

Coming from five generations of Ku Klux Klan members, 58-year-old "Ms. Ruth" sews hoods and robes for Klan members seven days a week, blessing each one when it's done. A red satin outfit for an Exalted Cyclops, the head of a local chapter, costs about $140. She uses the earnings to help care for her 40-year-old quadriplegic daughter, "Lilbit," who was injured in a car accident 10 years ago.
The following is a photo essay about Ms. Ruth by New York photojournalist Anthony Karen, a former Marine who has spent several years photographing members of the Ku Klux Klan. The essay includes audio of interviews with Karen and Ms. Ruth.

Any weapons ban would only apply to new guns and importing, anything that already is here will still be legal.
But what we need are weapons of some new age technology..............tanks

I always thought that when I bought a house, I'd buy a gun to protect it. Now that I own a house, the last thing I want in it is a gun .
Everyone I know that was shot and killed by a gun had a gun with them when they were shot. I know this isn't the case for everybody. But, when you draw, you up the anty. Either kill or be killed. At that point, the option for civil discourse is pretty well out the window.
Still, I understand where these impulses are coming from. There are some strange days to come. Me, I'm more of a katana short sword by the bed kind of guy, though. I wouldn't put it up against a gun, but anything short of that I feel pretty safe.

Hard to believe, I know, but not all were joyous on Election Night. In Texas, Baylor students were bringing out the nooses. And in Midland, Michigan,: there was this guy:
A Midland man told police that his walking on the sidewalk in full Knights of Ku Klux Klan regalia while toting a handgun had nothing to do with Barack Obama winning the presidency.
Later, however, he admitted that Obama's victory was the catalyst for his display.
Midland police questioned Randy G. Gray II, 30, who was walking on the sidewalk along Eastman near North Saginaw Wednesday afternoon while waving an American flag, but released him because he wasn't breaking any laws.
Gray was walking up and down the sidewalk in front of a vehicle dealership while several motorists shouted obscenities at him and others shouted ''accolades,'' police said.
ANYWAY........
This is brutal. But its funny as hell. trust me.
NSFW. NSFchildren or the mild at heart.....you gotta watch the whole video for the payoff though.
