[quote:5e10cbcb98]Less than 24 hours after The Source Magazine ousted its top-level executives, Jeremy Miller, the publication's new CEO, has declared that the magazine is headed in a new direction.
As SOHH.com reported earlier today, The Source founder Dave Mays and longtime president/rapper Raymond "Benzino" Scott were fired yesterday (January 18) by the magazine's board of directors.
According to sources at the magazine, Miller, accompanied by two bodyguards, entered the offices today and called a meeting of the entire staff. At the meeting, he told staffers that there will be some immediate changes.
"As far as I am concerned, all of the previous beefs are dead," said Miller, referring to Benzino's long-standing rivalries with Eminem, 50 Cent and Interscope Records, among others. "They no longer apply."
Miller then instructed staffers to spread the word to clients and publicists alike. He also told them that there would be some restructuring with the goal of cutting costs.
The legal and financial troubles of The Source are well documented. The magazine is millions of dollars in debut, and is facing a sexual harassment lawsuit from two high-ranking former employees.[/quote:5e10cbcb98]
Best news I've heard this morning!!!
If Source becomes a better mag (by ridding itself of bias and beefs) XXL might be forced to become one. Sweet Jesus... I may start buying both again!!!

amen what you just said.
hype and hatin to sale stuff, controvery, personal beef, and bias: dirtying a potential industry trade rag, butts and breast more important than sound business practices, sex to get and keep yo job( not a new practice by the way)
this sounds like a soap opera or worst yet a nightmare
how hiphop gon get respect if the so called best of us is showin our asses instead of mindin business and buildin somethin that last
sayin yo truth with dignity is different than in yo face belligerance
[size=9:a2eb4617d6]nrgnote: sometimes I rant most times I delete my rants cuz i don't feel strong enough about the point i am tryin to make to put it out there NOT DELETING THIS ONE

It'll be good to have them back.

This is my favorite news of the week. God, Benzino sucks. I really remember the Source being so sick, once upon a time. If they could bring it back and reestablish themselves as a true source for hiphop journalism I'd start coppin issues again. I don't know if they're going to reform themselves quite that well, but any progress is progress.

The source is out to make money and lots of it ,the whole idea of the early 90's comeing back is beautiful but I think the mags gonna remain as it is, a main stream trash bin.Don't get me wrong if I have time I'll flip thru the Source and i know theres a little freshness sprinkled in and I mean sprinkled. In the past I've had negative views toward the major mags because rather than educate and enlighten they advertise and exploit. Don't forget the Source was dope back then because commercial music was doper back then, look at the whole picture videos magazaines and radio, I can remember hitting record on rapcity or the hiphop countdown and letting it ride but sad enough Mike Moseby and Joe Claire are gone. Over the years we've gained some new mags (Waxpoetics ,Massappeal,Elemental Murder Dog ,Rime etc) and lost a few (Rapsheet ,Subculture Rappages ), the new mags are here due to a lack of underground celebration and promotion and I think they fill the gap well. I'm all the way down with beef starters being removed from power but I know the machine must keep going .
