From Demencha.com:
"The Record Bar, Demencha Magazine, Centerpunch Radio, Bassline Pressure and Ces Cru proudly present a truly experimental fusion of underground, lyrical hip hop swordplay and dubstep rhythms at the Record Bar on Wednesday August 20th, 2008. DJs Spider Bigger and Daylight Robber (Bassline Pressure) will mix some of their favorite dubstep vinyls while Ubiquitous and Godemis of the KC hip hop collective, Ces Cru (INnatesounds) rhyme over top, sure to create a sound that has never been heard from local DJs or MCs in the past. Not only that, but this event will unfold in a “live mixtape†format..."

As a side note, I'm really psyched up for this show. It's been almost a year in the making. And to see it finally come together is awesome.

Hell yeah. I just recently got into dubstep last year and I love the sound. Reminds me of my old Garage/2step days, but the music is more gutter & etheral. Really been diggin' Burial lately, so if this is anything like that, combined with CES Cru, this should be momentous.

I think it will be dope...I've said before, if Dubstep is really going to catch on in the US, it's going to have to come from the HipHop crowd and HipHop could definitely borrow a lot from Dubstep.

The people doing this show, Ces, Daylight Robber and Spider Bigger need for all you guys to come out to this show to show the city that a truly live experimental hip hop event can get heads through the door.
If you have the slightest appreciation for Ces Cru, or the slightest interest or curiousity in dubstep you need to be at the Record Bar on August 20.

I'll just say I was there and quite blown away. That's an understatement by the way. But what really matters is that I was THERE.

Thanks to everyone who came out and for the kind words. It would've been foolish not to acknowledge that it could've been a disaster, but I wasn't worried...I knew CES CRU would bring it and we could bring a little different vibe.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Dubstep and HipHop are a good combination...if Dubstep is really going to have any longevity in the US, it will have to come from HipHop and, while old-school HipHop will never go out of style, it needs to keep looking to the future and taking in other influences.
Thanks again!
