all too often we find ourselves coming up with similar if not the exact same ideas in songs, samples and even shirts. We as a generation just can't avoid this since we are all influenced by the same things and use similar search engines online we are bound to collide from time to time with ideas or product dropping at the same time. The key is to stay one step ahead or in a slightly different direction. here is an old school movie poster i wanted to use parts of for a shirt design. [img:c6739fd2da]http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e335/sikestyle/Mean_Streets.jpg[/img:c6739fd2da] earlier in the year some images leaked from other companies that happened to be using this very same poster for inspiration like this: [img:c6739fd2da]http://hypebeast.com/image/2008/07/coup-de-grace-08-fall-3.jpg[/img:c6739fd2da] here was my old idea: [img:c6739fd2da]http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e335/sikestyle/MEANSTREETS_forCES.jpg[/img:c6739fd2da] so i had to re tool my old ideas into this one for this fall. [img:c6739fd2da]http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e335/sikestyle/Fall_08_05_01.jpg[/img:c6739fd2da] it's just one of those things you gotta stay on your toes about and hope no one acts silly and starts bitching about who bit off of that poster first...me or them...ha we are all "samplers" "biters" in some degree. We are going Green and recycling pop culture in a new package for the masses. Just like everyone else in the entertainment and fashion industry does... It's the designers new interpretation and context i think that helps give the old a new twist without being a straight rip off.

Two producers can cut the same sample. Two emcees can flip the same simile. But the one recognized will be whoever freaked it better. In this case, yours is way sicker. Their line quality sucks, and the color choice is awful. Who cares if theirs dropped first if yours is better.

i try..haha thanks yo! Also here is an example of a master doing their thing. i made this tee a while ago [img:7ca1768399]http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e335/sikestyle/start-the-rev_black-zoom.jpg[/img:7ca1768399] some people thinks it's all about the "revolution"...yeah it can be.. but it's a reworked Ghostface line done in the style of one of my favorite artists of all time Barbara Kruger. You may know her work and the people that she has influenced. She's the queen of the "black white and red" to me here is her tee for the recent GAP artists line. [img:7ca1768399]http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e335/sikestyle/barbarakruger.jpg[/img:7ca1768399] same style..almost the same....but yet different.

I was wondering if you had Kruger in mind when you did that revolution tee. That's what I thought of when I first saw it, but you flipped it very nicely. You also murdered that mean streets flip. The coupe degrace shirt had horrible colors and bad placement imo. I like how you reworked the gun. the typefont and lines underneath set it off yo.
