The superstar shelltoe as a base can offer endless possibilities for color and material variation but yes... the iconic original white with black stripes is hard to go wrong with. I dunno if anyone is into skate shoes, but i just found pics of these new Apache Ipaths that look kinda fresh.. [img:243305103e]http://www.hypebeast.com/image/2008/06/ipath-apache-ipache-1.jpg[/img:243305103e] For Fall 2008, IPATH, the original skate footwear and apparel brand founded on the platform of sustainability and environmental consciousness, is joining forces with Douglas Miles' Apache Skateboards, the first Native skateboard brand, to create the I-PACHE collaboration. The I-PACHE collaboration will consist of sneakers, a fitted hat and a t-shirt, all featuring unique Apache Skateboards imagery created by Miles who's art has also appeared in several galleries and museums. The black sneaker will drop this fall, along with a fitted hat and t-shirt. The tan and white versions will come later to select retailers. "Walk Like A Warrior", a documentary about the origins of Apache Skateboards, is to be released in late in the summer of 2008. New SUPRAS!!! Skateboarding brand, Supra, just recently launched their 2008 Fall catalog online, and it seems that their arsenal of shoes just keeps getting stronger. The collection includes 6 signature and 6 non-signature shoes, coming in mainly complimentary colors. As usual, they keep a focus on the combination of practicality with nice styling. pix from hypebeast [img:9ce0ec0549]http://www.hypebeast.com/image/2008/06/supra-fall-2008-2.jpg[/img:9ce0ec0549] [img:9ce0ec0549]http://www.hypebeast.com/image/2008/06/supra-fall-2008-3.jpg[/img:9ce0ec0549] [img:9ce0ec0549]http://www.hypebeast.com/image/2008/06/supra-fall-2008-4.jpg[/img:9ce0ec0549] [img:9ce0ec0549]http://hypebeast.com/image/2008/06/supra-fall-2008-5.jpg[/img:9ce0ec0549] [img:9ce0ec0549]http://www.hypebeast.com/image/2008/06/supra-fall-2008-6.jpg[/img:9ce0ec0549] [img:9ce0ec0549]http://www.hypebeast.com/image/2008/06/supra-fall-2008-7.jpg[/img:9ce0ec0549] [img:9ce0ec0549]http://www.hypebeast.com/image/2008/06/supra-fall-2008-8.jpg[/img:9ce0ec0549]

Don't buy it. Tell the store why you won't buy clothing and other products from these backward nations. Tell your Senator, Congressman and presidential candidates that we should oppose the cruelest abuse of human rights: child labor. And then buy the American-made alternative. It will make you feel better about yourself and your fellow workers and send the world an urgently needed message.[/color:8b90ef38c3] I get h8r of the year award. I already know it but.... Peer Pressure is the best pressure With plenty of bark and maybe just enough bite, "antipreneur" Kalle Lasn is ready to leave his mark -- er, spot -- on the global sneaker industry. Watch out, Phil Knight. Like many entrepreneurs, Kalle Lasn has big ideas, and even bigger dreams. He talks about $100 million in sales, about cutting into the market share of giants, reinventing the whole idea of the corporation, inventing "a new kind of cool." Entrepreneurs need chutzpah, but Lasn takes it to new levels because as he spoke one recent afternoon in his Vancouver office, he didn't even have a product. He did have an idea for a product, though, and a few weeks later worked out details that, he pledged, would put it on the market by October. The product is a sneaker, but in a funny way that's almost incidental. It's called the Blackspot, and Lasn's ideas all revolve around this brand -- or antibrand. That distinction matters a great deal to Lasn because for the past 15 years he has made a name for himself as one of the most vocal opponents of the whole concept of branding, advertising, and marketing. The magazine he co-founded, Adbusters, is devoted to satirizing, criticizing, and flat-out attacking big corporations such as Nike, Philip Morris, ExxonMobil, and McDonald's and their carefully crafted public images. In 1999, Lasn (who pronounces his name, roughly, kol-lay lazzen) published Culture Jam, a book that railed against the "mental pollution" of marketing, implicating a culture of media images and endless sales pitches for rising rates of depression, alcoholism, even suicide. He wrote that the book Silent Spring and other totems of environmental awareness "shocked us into realizing that our natural environment was dying, and catalyzed a wave of activism that changed the world. Now it's time to do the same for our mental environment." Proposed solutions involved "demarketing," "subvertising," and a "guerrilla information war." Lasn had already launched a war against the "mental pollution" of corporate marketing. There was only one problem: "We were losing." This doesn't sound like someone whose next move would be into the market for consumer dollars. But here's the thing about the guerrilla information war that Lasn and his rotating crew of two dozen or so employees at Adbusters were fighting: "We were losing," he admits. While the Adbusters Media Foundation has built enough of an audience to keep it out of the red -- the magazine sells for $7.95 an issue and has international circulation of 120,000, according to Lasn -- it has had little success getting its incendiary anti-ads into any mainstream venue. So rather than just attack Nike -- although, as we'll see, that's still his obsession -- Adbusters would produce a rival shoe of its own, with environmentally friendly materials and ethical labor. Like many a brand before it, Blackspot would be designed to stand for big ideas: in this case, socially minded entrepreneurialism and grass-roots capitalism. "And, of course, coming up with an antilogo," Lasn proclaims, sounding excited, as he often does, "we're moving from whining into action." Action has not been easy. Finding a manufacturer, for one thing, has taken a long time. Moreover, Lasn has a habit of alienating people -- and not just his rivals. One would-be partner has actually become a rival and has beaten Lasn into the marketplace with a different take on the antipreneurial sneaker. And even some Adbusters fans aren't sure that the whole notion of an antilogo isn't just double talk for hypocrisy. Still, the Blackspot idea is provocative, merging protest and rebellion with shopping-for-a-better-world strategies. Often when a new brand or product is invented, its creators then make an effort to describe (or invent) its deeper meaning or Big Idea. Here the Big Idea came first, and it's the product that's being invented after the fact. Lasn wants to merge the marketplace of goods into the marketplace of ideas: The question is whether the Blackspot will live up to Lasn's lofty goals -- or whether those goals will end up sounding like the empty rhetoric of yet another pitchman. The plan for the sneaker was announced in the October 2003 issue of Adbusters. The controversy over working conditions at Asian factories where much sneaker-making has been outsourced has quieted since the 1990s, but part of the point seemed to be to find a new way to apply pressure -- and to offer consumers a chance to express their opinions through shopping. The proposed shoe was essentially a black Converse Chuck Taylor All Star low-top with its traditional logo replaced by a circular smudge and a black spot stamped on the sole as visual representation of the antibrand. The Chuck Taylor, the thinking goes, was a rebel sneaker, worn by the Ramones and fashion-rejecting punks. Last year Converse was bought by Nike, making the shoe an ideal symbolic target. "We want to do a kind of loose Converse knockoff," Lasn says. It will look like that iconic sneaker at first glance but on closer inspection will have various "tweaks," so that "suddenly you realize it's something more than a Converse." [color=yellow:8b90ef38c3]Children are bought and sold for cash or for the settlement of a debt. Iqbal Masih was sold into slavery when he was only four years old. His Pakistani parents, desperate for money, sold their young son for less than $16. For six years he was shackled to a carpet-weaving loom most of the time, tying tiny knots 10 hours a day. The following is a reprinted with permission from The Knight Ridder Tribune Company. All Rights Reserved.[/color:8b90ef38c3] Our purchases keep children in chains By Joel D. Joseph/Knight-Ridder/Tribune Tuesday, May 28, 1996 Recently you bought your son or daughter a new soccer ball. There is a good chance that the ball was made by someone your child's age or even younger. Fully half of the soccer balls sold in the United States are made in Pakistan, and every one of those soccer balls had an assist from a child under 14 who toils 10 hours a day in subhuman sweatshops, stitching the ball or cutting material used to make it. This is not an isolated problem. More than 200 million children worldwide, some as young as 4 and 5 years old, are slaves to the production line. Most of these children work in Asia, especially the nations of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Indonesia, but Latin America is guilty of this human rights abuse as well. India alone employs 50 million children between the ages of 10 and 14. These unfortunate children manufacture shoes, matches, clothing, rugs and countless other products that are flooding the American market and driving hard-working Americans out of jobs. More than 60 years ago the United States banned child labor, sweatshops, long workdays and workweeks. But now we are subsidizing, encouraging and failing to criticize the enslavement of young people in the Third World. The so-called Third Wave, boosted by President Clinton and House Speaker Newt Gingrich in the form of GATT and the World Trade Organization prohibits member nations like the United States from discriminating against the importation of goods made by children. Indian and Pakistani rug makers love child workers so much that they buy them. That's right, children are bought and sold for cash or for the settlement of a debt. Iqbal Masih was sold into slavery when he was only four years old. His Pakistani parents, desperate for money, sold their young son for less than $16. For six years he was shackled to a carpet-weaving loom most of the time, tying tiny knots 10 hours a day. Carpetmakers like the young weavers because their tiny fingers can make very tight knots, and also because they are cheap to own and maintain. Masih was a free person by the age of 12 and crusaded against the horrors of child labor. In November 1994 Iqbal spoke on the abysmal conditions in the sweat shops of Pakistan at the international labor conference in Stockholm, Sweden. The next month, he was given a Youth Action award in Boston. In March 1995 he was gunned down in his village in Pakistan while riding his bicycle. Eshan Khan, chairman of the Bonded Labor Front, a group fighting child labor, said, ``We know his death was a conspiracy by the carpet mafia.'' While Pakistan has laws against child labor and slavery, the government has taken very little action to combat it. Only a boycott by the United States and other nations will have any impact on slave-based industries like the rug manufacturers. Nike similarly bases its operations on finding the lowest-cost labor to make its athletic shoes. Twelve-year-old girls work in Indonesian sweatshops 70 hours a week making Nikes in unhealthy plants that reek of glue. Blue jeans and cheap clothing made in Bangladesh wind up on the shelves of American shops like K-Mart and Wal-Mart. The United States needs to take a leadership role in eradicating child labor around the globe. If we are punished for violating GATT for doing so, let us confront it head on. Child labor is a human rights issue. What is more of a human right than growing up a free person, attending school without being shackled to medieval machinery? Please remember every time you go shopping and see a label that says made in India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Malaysia or Indonesia, that a 10-year-old prisoner of a feudal manufacturer probably contributed his or her labor to that product. Don't buy it. Tell the store why you won't buy clothing and other products from these backward nations. Tell your Senator, Congressman and presidential candidates that we should oppose the cruelest abuse of human rights: child labor. And then buy the American-made alternative. It will make you feel better about yourself and your fellow workers and send the world an urgently needed message. Joel D. Joseph is chairman of the Made in the USA Foundation. It is sponsoring CAUSE, an effort to combat child labor around the globe. CAUSE, or Children Against Underage Servitude and Employment, is run by children in America. CAUSE will provide materials for students and teachers explaining how children are exploited around the world and deprived of a real childhood. thanks for posting on this forgotten thread! haha here are some other "delights" i found today... [img:931ba24b2b]http://hypebeast.com/image/2008/07/nike-hyperdunk-marty-mcfly-2.jpg[/img:931ba24b2b] Undefeated in Santa Monica will mark the first release location of the highly anticipated “Marty McFly” inspired Nike Hyperdunk. Featuring Nike’s newest hi-tech Flywire technology along with speckled midsoles, an amazing colorway and Back to the Future-esque badging, not to mention the glowing soles, these shoes are the total collector’s item. Along with this occasion comes a tee featuring a tribute to Kobe Bryant’s 2008 MVP season. There will also be an un-announced special guest in attendance, could it be #24 himself? Get your blankets and lawn chairs ready as this Wednesday July 2nd at 4pm marks the spot.

new adidas! [img:41faff63a4]http://www.hypebeast.com/image/2008/08/adidas-azx-o-store-zx-700-i-store-zx-700-05-500x357.jpg[/img:41faff63a4] [img:41faff63a4]http://www.hypebeast.com/image/2008/08/adidas-azx-o-store-zx-700-i-store-zx-700-02-500x357.jpg[/img:41faff63a4] As part of the adidas aZX I-P group, adidas Originals contributed two of their own offerings for the letter’s I and O. Representing I-Store and O-Store, the models seen here both focus on the ZX 700 in two colorways largely dominated by black and brown uppers. The I-Store references the exclusive adidas spaces ‘6 and ‘74 as premium materials are highlighted by green and red accents against the black colorway. The O-Store ZX 700 features a more rugged approach as the sneaker takes a brown upper and puts it up against select pink highlights with mountaineering-esque lace holes and hooks. Both offerings are no slouch as they hold their own against the other boutique-designed offerings.

Upcoming quickstrike release from Jordan Brand. Air Jordan I High Strap Premium (ATCQ) As you can plainly see these are celebrating A Tribe Called Quest by implementing the same graphics and colorway as the Midnight Marauders and Low End Theory album covers. ^^^^^^^ those are the first Cons I've seen that I'd actually put down cash for in a minute. fresh. Here's a few of my Dec. pickups. Nothing dope for me in Jan. but Feb. - May is gonna kill drain my wallet. Air Jordan 1 High strap "bred" Quickstrike. This was the most difficult pickup I've delt with in over 3 years. Crazy limited. Pener was the only place in KC and they didn't even get a full size run. Classic shoe, classic colorway. This is the original "Banned from the NBA" shoe that set it all off. [img:21e7dfa257]http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj276/ogbeatbroker/DSCN1492.jpg[/img:21e7dfa257] [img:21e7dfa257]http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj276/ogbeatbroker/DSCN1493.jpg[/img:21e7dfa257] And of course... The most sought after Jordan release of 2008... The XI/XII Collezione (Countdown Pack) Lines were CRAZY deep at 4AM for this one. [img:21e7dfa257]http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj276/ogbeatbroker/41c1_12.jpg[/img:21e7dfa257] [img:21e7dfa257]http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj276/ogbeatbroker/4ee6_12.jpg[/img:21e7dfa257] [img:21e7dfa257]http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj276/ogbeatbroker/4311_12.jpg[/img:21e7dfa257] I had six sets of these countdowns pass through my hands over the last month, and the reselling of them has straight paid for 2 months of my bills. I doubled my money on most of them. People are stupid. Kept one set which was more than free after the resells.

lets continue with the spaced aged shoe trend The Ato Cow Hide boot comes this Spring/Summer 2009 season in a new colorway. On release the sneaker turned a lot of heads, also because Kanye West was among the first to wear them overseas. Since then we have seen a lot of sneaker companies taking a similar direction and adding several velcro straps onto their shoes. hmm. I've always been a fan of huarache's. these aren't bad, but a little bland. If they'd switch up the colors of the mesh vs. the patent leather and the lace straps these could be fire. As they are it's like a hybrid of Jordan 11, Air Max '95 Zen and Huarache trainers. Not a bad combo I guess.

It's about gotdayum time! After almost 15 years we are finally getting the long overdue but ever welcomed return of the Air Max Griffey in a number of OG colorways. The classic Black/Mariner Aquatone durabuck is the first up... Look for these in April at Nike Urban accounts nationwide. Nike's been doing this on a lot of great maxes for the the last few years and it really pisses me off. The bubbles on these and the Air Max '95s and '97s to name a few used to be huge! Cushioning is just not what it used to be.

^yeah that shit does look a little weird, build quality is just not the same on the new re-releases...on the flip side, it's cool that I not only grew up in the prime of hip hop, but also the prime of the shoe game, cause these dudes can't release anything original that's worth a shit, nowadays... I still have this dope ass pencil drawing of the first Flights, the scottie pippen black suede joints from back in the day my brother drew, dated like 93 or some shit, haha but those griffeys were about the only baseball player inspired shoes worth a shit imo

yuppers. price vs. retail indeed. With the right type of account it can be very profitable. And for what it's worth, I was a fan of the Air Jordan XXIII. Well designed and extremely high quality and attention to detail. But yes retros have been suffering on the quality tip.

some of the retros that came in the Countdown packs were a disgrace (the 4s and the 3s.) ive already been waitin on those griffeys for a minute. aprils gonna be a good month.

I agree about the IV's. Shape is off and the nubuck is paper thin, but I still love mine. I don't have another wearable pair of black/red IV's and I'm not dropping $400+ on a pair that will probably crumble within a year so they'll have to do. The III's on the other hand aren't so bad. They're nowhere near as nice as the '01 or '94 versions but then the earlier retros were not as good as the OG's either. CDP III's seem to be a little better even than the '07 run of them (Fire Red, DTRT, Flips, Cool Grey etc.). If it weren't for the jumpman on the back I'd be happy with them. Now the CDP XIs were straight garbage. No cushioning at all, horribly cheap imitation patent leather and stiff, stiff mesh. I HATE CDP XI's with a passion but am super happy with the XII's. best of the year were VII's and VI's by FAR. Have you checked out what all is coming from JB this year? Crazy. White/Cement IV's, White Cement III's, DMP II (feat. V's) two quickstrike VI's (one in March is rumored to be white infrareds), Jordan I "hare" pack, Raptor VII's and a whole lot more heat that will probably get butchered.

As to whether it's Blk/Infrared or Wht/Infrared is yet to be determined. Hell it could be neither. All that's known for sure is that Infrared will be used on the first QS VI. It's supposedly a Gatorade x JB collabo and he was wearing Blk/Infrareds during game 4 of the '91 finals when he got the Gatorade dumped all over him so that's a distinct possibility. (It'd be funny if they made them with a split right toe box like what happened to his mid-game.) I'm hoping for white and there's a good chance of that too. There's been petitions for this colorway for years which has worked before. Plus it hasn't ever been retroed. They've done the black joints twice since '91. If it weren't for Gentry moving up and leaving his post I'd have bet they'd be green/orange/infrared (gatorade colors) and it still could be... [img:ec596997c6]http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj276/ogbeatbroker/2nt8y6a.png[/img:ec596997c6][img:ec596997c6]http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj276/ogbeatbroker/air-jordan-6-infa-red-retro.jpg[/img:ec596997c6] I can't wait for the cements either... I just hope they don't fuck em up like they did the Mars and Militaries. Those were atrocious quality. Now that Gentry is no longer in charge of creative design, I have hope. Mark Smith is much better suited for the job as he's been attached to sneaker culture for a loooong time and has been behind some of the best releases in Nike history. I think he'll take more pride in the shoes and this will hopefully carry over into better quality materials and craftsmanship. Though that will probably mean a higher price tag. The regime change has also left me with hope that they'll put "Nike Air" back where it belongs on IIIs, IVs, Vs & VIs. any thoughts on these? [img:bbfc2e0afd]http://www.hypebeast.com/image/2009/02/nike-sportswear-air-force-ii-1.jpg[/img:bbfc2e0afd] Playing successor to one of Nike’s most iconic models has been no easy feat. Although not the least popular of the Air Force franchise, the Air Force II isn’t exactly a darling of the sneaker world. As of late, Nike’s been working up some interesting colorways for the middle child. Taken under the wing of Nike’s Sportswear division, this new color-up features a Wu-Tang reminiscent two-tone approach with intricate detailing along the backside, contrasting laces and popular gum bottoms. Retailing for $82 USD, they are now available at Nike Sportswear retailers including 21 Mercer NYC.

ok, so I was just informed by a VERY reliable friend/source that the colorway for the VI QS will be Black/Black/Max Orange(which is very close to infrared and spot on for the Gatorade orange) It's also been pushed back to the timeframe of the NBA playoffs. It's as good as done.

Via Hypebeast: This week marked the released of the much anticipated Clark Kent x Nike Air Force 1 sneaker. Created in honor of the NBA All Star Game taking place in Phoenix Arizona, DJ Clark Kent teams with Nike for another quality limited release. The Phoenix Suns colorway is built with premium materials ranging from nubuck to patent. Three sets of Starks laces and a pair of lace locks round out the detailing of this AF1, ...and yes, it's a clear sole. I hate to be the bearer of bad news man, but you done missed your chance to cop the 1/2 cents for retail. Pener put them out on Monday morning and they are GHOST. Footaction won't be getting them either. Strictly HOH and Urban Energy Accounts. QS releases are a pain if you're not checking the stores and sites like every day. You can check out my ebay auctions if you like. These are my meal ticket this week. http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/beatbroker06_W0QQ_nkwZQQ_armrsZ1QQ_fromZQQ_mdoZ [img:5af15c5380]http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj276/ogbeatbroker/SANY0685.jpg[/img:5af15c5380] [img:5af15c5380]http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj276/ogbeatbroker/SANY0692.jpg[/img:5af15c5380] [img:5af15c5380]http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj276/ogbeatbroker/SANY0686.jpg[/img:5af15c5380] ...As far as the Air Yeezys go. The first colorway will be a Hyperstrike. Basically if you don't have serious connects you won't get a pair without spending over a G. After that, they'll ALL be Quickstrike and Tier 0. Meaning, I don't think any Footactions or Footlockers (aside from the 34th St. FA in Manhattan) will get them. Pener will be your best bet, assuming they don't take full size runs out to R-Sole in St. Louis for the bamma markup price. Pener is steady robbing KC of many great releases that way. Copping the '08 infrared AM90s was a bitch because of those shady tactics.

But what has the world come to when NIKE of ALL COMPANIES has to bite other lesser brands? I mean Nike is notorious for suing the shit out of companies like Greedy Genius, Creative Recreation and Bape for "borrowing" designs. Yet here we are with this. It is a blatant bite from Supra and Creative Recreaction. Nike is supposed to be a leader in the shoe game, not a trendy follower. That said, I may cop a pair if the price is right.

Regarding the 1/2 Cents. They are SUPER well made. Awesome quality, support and cushioning. UNFORTUNATELY they run about a half size big so my size 8 didn't fit and I couldn't find a 7.5 sooo.....
