The 1st Hiphop Community Potluck of 06 8)
Think of it, hiphop playing in the background, hiphop heads cooking and eating together and fund raising for a project that impacts local hiphop all year long.
$3 with a Dish + can good 😉 or ➡ $8 + can without a side dish
bring a hot side dish or salad or desert to add to the meal + 1 canned good.

I love to cook BIG FOOD. I especially like to see people eat the food I cook. "it's hard to make a turkey and ham + all the trimming for ONE" ya know 🙄

DJs who wanna spin there will be a set up there and for those of you who have loaded ipods we can plug them in as well.
60% of the proceeds will be donated to fund the Newly formed KC Hiphop Academy and the can goods will be given to an area food pantry. The remaining money will go for kitchen and community center rental.

greens, cornbread, yams, turkey, ham, mashed tater, a slab of beef (if you bring them and cook em 😆 ) my gurl Zoe is cooking Yoraba stew for the veggie main dish, otherwise my hands will be quite busy with the above and a giant peach cobbler for dessert (probably should get icecream huh?)

I'm doing the shoppin, strategizin for gettin my cook on, and my excitement is mounting.
tomorrow my whole house is gonna start smellin gooooood and like most cooks, I will be full for the whole weekend off the aromas coming from the potluck food.
gonna save a few items to stink up the community center with especially those (as in multiple) peach cobblers. yummmmmmm

I'll be there with my girl & some friends. I'll be bringing 'nuff loafs of bread from the bakery FERVERE 17th & Summit (WESTSIIIIDE!!!)

I hope we can make this an ongoing thing. As they say food is a great thing to come together over & for. Plus I miss all my peeps!Being a hip hop Dad I can't always make it out to the PM festivities!!

forunately, there are several great options available, among them is the gym. I probably saw your cousin today and didn't know it. they were ballin in the gym and we had this great space facing the park with a perfect view of the snow coming down.
the potluck was a total success by my book. folks ate, talked, music was playing. Em bought her daughter Juju and I bought my shitsu beasley. boy they have a great kitchen there.
I cooked so much there was tons of food left after folks took what they wanted. Big Food and I saw adell and miles go back for 2nds and 3rds.
Joe just piled his plate and as I predicted, I ate like a bird because I was full from cooking. John drove in from out of town for a meal. Good to see you john, hope jeremy explained the Academy good enough for ya.
sorry we didn't get a chance to visit much. next time tho.
we raised about $50.00 and a bunch of can goods for Guardian Angel food pantry. I invited the staff to join us and they shared their donuts with us. all said it was fun and next time I plan on only cookin one dish, so I can eat myself full on other folks stuff.
