Hey all... New music on my page that I'd like for you all to check out... That's the first thing...
The second thing, I'm trying to come up with concepts for my album. How do you all come up with concepts and how are they applied to your album writing, beat selecting, and execution?

It usually just comes from a "wheres your head at" kinda vibe for us, what is inspiring you lately, what do you want to let people in on about your persona/agenda/beliefs etc..
What knowledge can you bring to the table, its kinda like picking an outfit, how do you want to "present yourself" on this album or that album.

You can play it a couple of ways....this portion pertains more to the title
If your album has a particular theme, center it around that. Whats the point your tryin to relay? How can I sum up all the joints on this album with one thought? If its a conceptual album you wanna center it around one thought
If it isnt a conceptual album I would say make the title vague. It should be sumthin that jumps out at the person that pics it up. Have you straight buggin like "what the hell does this mean?!? "Man Im gonna buy this just so I can find out more!"
Figure which direction your album is going then you can figureout which way you wanna go with the title..
As for the concept of the album
Concepts are based on feelings...what do you wanna say? Why do you wanna say it? I ususally tell cats not to get caught up on concepts if its your first or second go round. I think the main point you wanna relay your first time out the box is "I got skills" cuz regardless of what the concept is cats wanna know that you can spit. So I would say if it's your 1st album..let it all hang out!!

JKR, great comparison to the outfit selection...
Lou, I feel you on "choosing" to create a concept album... First and second go arounds are as you said, for presentation.... I just get so wrapped up in trying to make my project mean alot.. Still have some growing to do as an artist...

My Projects usually.....haha....come about in the dumbest ways.....
true story.... One day I was just sitting down working on something that had absolutely nothing to do with music. And I was (as usual) hungry. So I was for no apparent reason going over some recipes of what I could eat for lunch. I was like "Imma get me some meat...and throw some cheese on the bitc......hold up.....Meat and cheese...hmmmm". So bam I formed a whole CD around the essential element of a sandwich.
And as far as trying to give a CD a message. I try to say everything by saying absolutely nothing. In other words, I pretty much do a bunch of random crap, and see what messages the listeners pull from it. Because in actuality thats what they would be doing anyway. Thats just how I do it....
