so finally, based on something I proposed a year ago, if we would present
any bar we partner with a KC Hiphop "credo and standards of our intent" as a community, that would say "we care" and are generally committed to peaceful shows, professionalism, and shared prosperity for all involved,
that might go over with clubs "WE" work with.
If you give some imput, I could draft such a document that would contain our collective ideas and post it here for downloading by any artist, promoter, club owner or fan/supporter and maybe just maybe over time it could take hold as a new trend locally.
BE PROACTIVE NOT REACTIVE

Professionalism:
we support Promoters who present and represent the interest of every aspect of producing entertainment that is professional
these area include
safety
contracts
business integrity
the planning and execution involved in ensuring the above
Shared Prosperity:
using a written contract, our community supports those who, plan for and provide for EVERY PERSON'S contribution by committing to pay for services rendered. be that in both money and in kind services (drinks and food) to all involved.

i tried to reply...spent ten minutes thinking about what to say....i just didnt feel like what i had to say was helpful at all...let me retype it
from grassnastys point of view -
peaceful shows - i havent had a show yet that wasnt peaceful...i hope i dont but i suppose i can almost count on something happening someday...anyway, i hope that as a performer and an avid showgoer that im never put in the position to be injured..i know i can restrain myself..
professionalism - this is the one i was stuck on before...trying to see how it applies to me...im new to the scene, especially the business aspect of things, but how i see it is that our concentration now should be in the growth and solidification of kc hip hop....trying to establish a foundation...(see that probably had nothing to do with what you wanted to know)
and shared prosperity - okay, i agree with what you said basically...im not too familiar with getting paid, hehe, so i mean....i can only say that if im told im going to be paid or im told that i can get some food/drinks, then i would expect to get them...havent had that problem yet either...we'll see i guess...

but listen to this
recording, mixing, mastering cost money canvas,paint,markers,dunks, vinyl,serrato,laptops,time spent away from friends and family, food clothing and shelter cost money, getting paid in food and drink is fine if you got a job and making and sharing your talents with us is for fun and props
but consider this
how does the above create an internal economy, for the service provider within our community ie dancers,designers, engineers, producers,wordsmiths, music selectors ie my new name for dejays, turntablist yall know it ain't just me knowin the difference, the list is endless.
I am already hearin you say
we don't do this for that I know I know so talk to me about why if people use your talent to create income for themselves, you won't consider being compensated for your time, knowledge, and the blending of such into your unique talent?
