Hello Everyone,
A classic soul singer from northern Illinois just passed away today/ His name is Sidney Birdlegs Banks. He records under the name Birdlegs and Pauline for Cuca and Vee Jay Records. His biggest hit was Spring on VeeJay and it was just featured on the current Best of VeeJay cd by shout/sony. He was a close friend of the family and I had a chance to interview him this past year for a article im working on about the soul of northern illinois. I will post audio later from him. He had 1 45 and lp but he walked away from the music industry because of a falling out with veejay during the final years of the label. Speaking with him this year helped me understand that the stuggle that I go through, everyone goes through to continue the fight through hate/separation/racism to reach the people with music
