I was reading hiphopsite.com news and came across this
Common, KRS-One Named "Worst Lyricists" By Blender Magazine
Say what? Timbaland, will.i.am, and Diddy, who also made Blender Magazine's "Worst Lyricists In Rock" list in their latest issue (Nicole Sherizinger cover), we can definitely understand. But Common? Really guys? The magazine suggests that we shouldn't trust rappers that wear sweaters, and quotes his worst lyric as "I'm you're worst nightmare squared / that's double for niggas that ain't mathematically aware". The line, while mathematically incorrect, is taken from Common's "Making A Name For Ourselves", but is actually spit by Canibus. KRS-One also makes the list for his "crackpot conspiracy theories", despite his ridiculous arsenal of styles and unheralded contributions to hip-hop.
Nice try guys, you're magazine just lost a ton of credibility with us, and probably just about every hip-hop fan over the age of 25. There are a lot worse lyricists in hip-hop - we don't even need to list them here, it would take too long. While you guys might be weary of trusting a rapper in a sweater, we're a little weary of rock guys trying to critique hip-hop in any form or fashion. Dummies. - Pizzo
