I've been listening to a ton of Buddy Miles lately (Them Changes, Expressway to Your Skull, A Message to the People) and recently had the opportunity to interview him for a piece on KUT 90.5 Austin's Texas Music Matters. For those not hip to the power drummer, Miles was one-third of the Hendrix led all-black power trio Band of Gypsys and has collaborated with Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Bootsy Collins, Betty Davis, Carlos Santana and countless others. He's also the prototype for cats like ?uestlove. You can here the piece I produced about his life and music here:

Very nice piece, man! Buddy is definitely a name to be mentioned in the company of dudes like Idris Muhammad and Bernard Purdie, he is a masterful drummer and was able to combine musical styles like nobody's business.
The intro to "Train" from [i:1c3605d2b1]Expressway To Yr. Skull[/i:1c3605d2b1] always gives me goosebumps, that album as a whole is the jam. Plus, I always get a kick out of reading Jimi's overtly psychedelic liner notes.
