    Cut 20+ loops out, but only used 3 or 4 It was still processing, but I uploaded to www.myspace.com/dmbeats Called "Love Has Power HHKC" The only thing I added was drums and a breath sample.

If so it could open this thing up for blind judging I like Dr T's idea about a separate section for it too. If the files were hosted here it would really add to the site rather than just adding another thing to the site....another attractive feature you know. It would also make it easier to find past sample challenges and keep a history of them all in one spot.

    Would adding this feature generate revenue to help cover the cost of increased storage is a big question I have? one suggestion for covering the extra storage cost would be a membership fee that would tied into a special uploading approval with your login. If it would, how would it do that? list some suggestions Still not sure what you need, Somebody Spell it out in technical terms blow by blow. I will past this on to our webmaster. As site admin, I would want to monitor uploading and such, maybe use a special approval login or something like that. How big on average would the files be? talk to me if you serious about this

    ^I don't think that there is any money to be made from the sample challenge concept. It's for fun. MP3's are like, 3 to 5 megabytes. Myspace pages and file hosting sites should be good enough.

    the money is about additional cost for storage dirge. I would like to think covering cost is being thought about same as the fun the challenge can continue along the current lines if I can't cover the cost by charging. either way is fine for me

    Money?.....nawwww...no money Well maybe instead of having the mp3s of past challenges (which would cause for more storage space)....just have the results like who won, so the only mp3s of the current one are available example... Say if we're on week 7 of the sample challenge...just delete all the mp3s from the the past weeks up to that point, so it's probably a grand total of maybe 50mb of mp3s at one time... this make sense?

    I don't know if anyone cares, but I still have the spotup at www.soundclick.com/hiphopkcdotcom Dedicated to promoting this. If the songs were posted there, it would be free, and no problem. On top of generating traffic to HipHopkc.com it would let outsiders see the different types of flavors Kansas City has to offer, it would also offer an "outside" opinion. It will also lead and gives access to outsiders and/or listeners access to Producers from this site. No Fee. No worries. thoughts

Charging would be a bad idea, especially for something that is an asset to the site.

I think its against PNphp's Terms of service to upload or specifically host anything copyrighted. They have had "shut down for a day or two" episodes on MF DOOM site, Headringer.net, and other forums for doing so. opinions 1. I think deleting mp3 files, is like deleting photos from past events, to make room for more photos of things recent. 2. I think as a "spectator" of this competition, I would want to see past competitions. 3. I mean think about what your sound is now and what your sound will be in a few years. My seed will start posting his own beats here soon. I want him and your kids to see how I crushed it! So this site can help serve as the foundation for something started.[/color:37643e3827]

    The bandwidth is limited on many hosts if you are paying to use someone's server (ex. $9.95 per month) and if you are running a server most isp's will have a limit as well (at least for a standard account). The archive aspect is one of the better reasons to host the files....keeping a history of past sample challenges and of course keeping a part of Kansas City hip hop history in the process. Another big reason to keep the files together is to make things easy on the listener. Give the listener a taste, let them find what they like, then they can buy the albums they like or whatever. A big reason why the sample challenges are important to this site is because when things get real slow, a sample challenge comes along and gets things going again. They typically get a lot of attention and can bring new people to the site. Last, but certainly not least they are hip hop....talk is talk....music is music......this is hip hop kc isn't it? Really they've been working fine as is, this is just a suggestion on possibly making them better.
