What was so much fun about last night was how volatile the open mic sessions really are. One guy was up there spitting a rap about his grandmother passing away last week, some guys came with straight COMEDY. Great night, everyone should come out!!!

Pretty much everybody (I think it was like a dozen spitters) brought heat. i think with that group of heavy hitters you would've got booed off the stage if you wasn't coming with heaterz.

Damn, I missed this? I was told the first one starts October 1st and that ladies were free before 9:30. So as a lady myself, I should show up September 17th before 10pm, correct? Somebody put a sticky on this please!!

I Dare a Femcee to show her face. I wish. I hope. Yeah right, this night was the greatest. Monday night football, Beer, Hip Hop, and no nagging females. I don't think there is a femcee that could keep up with these boys. Not from Kansas City anyway. [img:bce89e2d5a]http://www.ghanaweb.biz/GHP/img/pics/50153500.jpg[/img:bce89e2d5a] I will battle... edit...... comment above about femcees, was made strictly out of the pure fustration that I rarerly see any. That is all. I wish More would participate. Peace AF

Hmm, nagging females? What's that supposed to mean? I'm just a female fan that wanted to come see some hip hop, but I'm not so sure now. What up with that? ❓ And don't say "I was just kidding." I really wanna know why you'd make a comment like that? Bad experience with a girlfriend? Feel threatened by a female presence? Or did you think I was a femcee and you thought you had to front? It's comments like yours that make women feel alienated and excluded in the hip hop scene. You emcees gotta not be on battle mode so much, you'll scare off the fans. What good is a rhyming session if there's no fans to appreciate it? A sausage fest is no fun, am I right? Isn't that the whole point of having ladies free before 10pm? So why would you advertise ladies free and then say no nagging females?!!

Feel threatened by a female presence?[/quote:3753497898] You obviously have not seen nor met my feminist girlfriend. She hates football though, so if you wanna count that as a bad experience, it is every Sunday at noon! Our weekend together is over for at least three hours. [quote:3753497898="spits_at_mirrors"]Or did you think I was a femcee and you thought you had to front?[/quote:3753497898] Knowledge of self? Are you a fan or a femcee? [quote:3753497898="spits_at_mirrors"]It's comments like yours that make women feel alienated and excluded in the hip hop scene. You emcees gotta not be on battle mode so much, you'll scare off the fans.[/quote:3753497898] I make beats. I don't rap.....anymore. [quote:3753497898="spits_at_mirrors"]What good is a rhyming session if there's no fans to appreciate it? A sausage fest is no fun, am I right? Isn't that the whole point of having ladies free before 10pm? So why would you advertise ladies free and then say no nagging females?!![/quote:3753497898] I really could care less if it was all dudes. They don't whine, they spit hot fire! I in no way shape or form represent or advertise for Heet Mob, nor do have anything to do with their promotion. I was simply making an cheesy and corny comment/observation. Its going to jump off if you come or not. I simply don't see enough let alone any females ever ryhming on any open mike, in Kansas City. If you ain't nagging now, I don't know what you are doing. Lighten up kid. I [u:3753497898]was[/u:3753497898] just kidding. I do want to honestly see a female hold it down if they have fire? But understand, its not a game on that mic. issues?! And on a weird short ironic note! yes a sausage fest has been great. How many females get involved on topics here? Check my past post. I've not only encourage more females to post hear, but have also offered blazin tracts free for femcees. I have yet to see someone besides severe get on some freestyle sh*t! Femcees dont talk about it they be about it. Real Talk. Be the woman you are? Peace? AF 😥

[quote:e6bd24aab5]We won't miss you.[/quote:e6bd24aab5] All right, cool. You made that clear enough. I won't be coming to Mic Check Mondays, and I won't be bringing any of my cute friends either. You say you don't speak for Heet Mob, yet you say "we". If Heet Mob is putting this show on, they can thank you for scaring off the female fans (and single ladies). Like I asked before, what's the point of having ladies free before 10pm, if you would rather have a sausage fest? You might as well say No Ladies Allowed, because that's certainly the message you are conveying. I guess it's no loss to Heet Mob since I would have got in free anyways, or is it? 😉

I apologize, as extended family of Heet Mob(former dj for the night when it was at the Hurricane and will be dj'ing the night soon(getting serato right), we would like to welcome everyone and their friends to come out and support the night and make your own opinion. It is rare to have hip hop clubs in the midtown/westport area and we would like your support on the night. It is one of the few quality hip hop nights in the area. The night is ment to be a positive experience for everyone with a variety of entertainment. Plus there are quite a few female mc's that i've seen in this city spit fire at the other nights and straight served the males(this one contest I judged at Jamacian G's was straight fire a lady served all the mc's and most of the dudes came with written lines(when your boys can quote your lines you are not freestyling step ya game up). So back to the point I want to welcome everyone to the night, please don't feel offended and come enjoy some quality entertainment. damn. thank you. as i read this, i was startin' to think that those proclaiming to be [b:b40a059849]real[/b:b40a059849] hiphoppers were all just haters. i, much like my grrl, spits_at_mirrors, have been around the scene for a number of years, many times as the only two ladies in the audience, and it's always been chill. never in my life has some chump called me a "nagging female", or at least he was clever enough to keep it to himself! unless i missed something, an open mic without an audience is just emcees waiting for their turn. i'm sorry i'm not coming out with the intention of grabbin' the mic, but, hell, someone's gotta be there to cheer and boo and laugh at the punchlines. while ace may not have seen any femcees, i have had the privilege on numerous occasions, dope ass female poets as well. although, given the tone of this thread, something tells me that these femcees will be wise enough to spit their rhyme elsewhere. there's not a chump in this whole damn town that would keep a couple of old school 'heads like us away from a potentially fire show. but we are not your average female fans. keep running your mouth--we all know why there are very few women in the KC hiphop scene... i appreciate someone actually connected to Heet Mob posting on this subject. it [b:b40a059849]IS[/b:b40a059849] a rare thing to get a hiphop night in Midtown, and of course, all 'heads need to come out and support it. when we show up to Mic Check Monday, you'll know who we are: the ones without our dicks in our hands. peace.[/b]

i might come out tonight. i thought ace was issuing a sarcastic challenge, then he kept talking. seems like there were more female emcees in the late 90s around here. i know two of them went to screwston.

Again, off the chain. If you were not there, you missed out again! I will say, Not as powerful or "ground-breaking/shaking" as last week but.... Thank you Melena for putting down right for the ladies. I sure am glad that you came out. I love the poetry. but femcees, on the stage, repping Hip Hop, is the shnizzle! You held it down for the ladies and the under estimated, (I heard the haters). Even kept it going when the beat dropped out. Thank you to the Female Poets for repping too! I found what I was looking for. Ima get at you for sure with these beats. but.... I hate myspace! I'm down for my fellas but its ladies first with these beats...the new chops that is. I'm glad that I found two females tonight that I'm sure,I'm hopin, will nag me for beats. This is what Mondays are all about. Startin' my week off right with some fresh HipHop. I've been in Kansas City since '05 and I haven't seen any open mic event like this that I'd attend every week. You just need to come out and support the efforts of Heet Mob: Serving the patrons of HipHop and offering a positive music experience in Kansas City. After all HipHop is for the PihPoh Peace.Nici. AB

Sooooo Glad the Big Brothers have re-created this opportunity for the next generation of up and coming local artists. Honing one's skills under the guidance and eye of accomplished, serious, peers is in a word. . . . . . . . PRICELESS! there are many artists performing currently, who honed their skills at the mardi gras on 19th and Vine thanks to the discipline and foresight of The Heet Mob. Joe sneaked off too many nights to count to learn, and build with the best those open mic nights had to offer. Thank You For Continuing to Present THIS Place and Time! ma much love and respect
