Word...
Me and my dude were just talking about this the other day.
We were wondering if there'd ever be a Season 2.

haha... they already put the best line of the season on the promo:
"Ah yes, there is powerful niggardry at work here.."

That's a damn shame. I was reading somewhere that folks were pushing for McGruder to put Huey's introspect in the forefront of the next season. Looks like it got more ignorant instead. There was this white dude talking about the Boondocks at work one day and this dread went clean the fuck off on some, "Man I hate that damn show. How they gonna have a cartoon where every other word's nigga? White folks are just sittin around laughin at that shit, man I hate that shit!"
I like the Boondaocks, but I completely felt where homeboy was coming from.

its great social commentary still, ignorance exsist, thats why this show give intelligent people something to laugh at who can read between the lines.

i don't get the impression that... the show was meant to speak to white people. i think dave chappelle ran into the same problem...

exactly, but what can ya do? at the end of the day, these guys are in the business of entertainment, and are incredibly talented. i want that to be there job, and they do it well, being funny and irreverant(sp?) all the other stuff about social responsibilty and politics....you cant always win those battles. people always have something to say, no matter what.

Word, I like the boondocks. On the other hand I feel where homeboys coming from. It's good social commentary, but it could also be used as a stage for something greater. Especially with McGruders writing style. He's already shown through episodes like "Return of the King" and "A Huey Freeman Christmas" that he has the ability to educate and entertain while keeping his fans thirsting for more.

i think that it's worth it to give some form of entertainment to the few people who do get it, since they're stuck watching normal folks' bullshit all the time, even if you don't wake very many people up. also, i think adults don't give a chance to things that are too smart because they know in the end anything good will get cancelled, or because they don't want anything to push the envelope and get people thinking about what they're laughing at instead of just doing it on cue when the laugh-track button gets pushed after every line in a sitcom.
of course, i get all my social commentary from Mo'Nique and Tyler Perry, so i don't know what y'all are talking about.

Reverse that shit.
I tell people if you made a show with females calling each other bitches all the time, I might peep it, or a show with gay dudes calling each other "gay-wad" or the "f" word, I would probably laugh at the pilot. But them shows aint meant for me.
You can bet when I watched the Bundy's, I laughed my ass off, same with Archie Bunker. Know one seems to understand that its satire. The point is to prove the point that certain types of ignorance exist.
Plus there is usually some sort of positive message that comes out of each episode.
This non-negro chic was trying to tell me that she don't like music or shows that say that "N" word, and that people get mad when "we" use it.
I told her you are only allowed to use that word if you've been one. You can't call somebody a queer, if you've never been one. You can't call anybody a bitch, unless you yourself have been in the position of being a bitch.
I've had people ask me if people like Rufus exist? I had a Black neighbor when we were growing up, he hated niggas! He let this little nigga know that too.
McGruder is a smart and witty man. He knows exactly what hes doing.
They been saying it for 500 years, they just mad cause we own that shit. Its something they can't have or touch.
Precious Epitaph.
off subject....Can anybody tell me why some white dudes don't get mad if you call them honky, cracker-ass, or peckerwood. But they blow a fuse when you call them pussies.
I called this white dude, who was talking "crazy drunk talk" to these female friends of mine a "nigger", he about lost it. "I ain't no.....!" then he caught himself and sobered up quick, when he seen the room he was in, was filled up with niggas.
they so funny like that.

I think sometimes we're a bit too hard on (Black) creators of irreverant material.
For every Boondocks there's a Jackass.
I get that we're often held to a higher standard so I understand the concern, but I also think we should have the same opportunity to be on some "ignorant @#$%".
At the same time, I do think with such an opportunity McGruder should balance education with the entertainment.

I think that there is tho. Look at the episode "The Itis". He makes sure to point out the true facts about Sunday dinner, dinner at gran mamas house, and Funeral dinners.
Even my son pointed out that they (the rest of the fam) were going to have heart attacks themselves. Hes wise to eating right and being healthy, and he picked up on that. (hes 9)
So I believe that there is a somewhat subliminal positive message.
