Ok - now, I really don't have much beef with this list since it looks like by "hottest" they mean most relevant/impactful in the industry at moment. I do however question Jim Jones being on this list... I mean... he beat out Luda!!! lol - that's all I'm sayin'. Everybody else is pretty much at least on the list. I may have moved a few people around. But as far as the people still getting any kind of real careers out of this industry- this is my list I guess. Honorable mentions go to Lupe Fiasco just for being dope; Nas just for being another old head who could still move a respectable amount of units contending with a few cats on this list; and ... well wait a minute... that's it for my honorable mentions I guess as far as industry is considered. Your turn...

that top ten goes by albums sales.. not actual skill, right?

This list [is] designed to rate who is the most successful and in-demand now, is not based on the artists' entire careers. The information factored in for the discussion revolved around what has happened in the past six months to a year. Attributes factored in to the list were "straight-up skills, success (both musical and entrepreneurial), impact on the game and — new to our decision-making — swagger: an MC's cool factor and how they carry themselves on and off recordings," according to MTV. Ok - so how do you guys feel about a list of 10 as far as this definition goes: [i:3daa086aa0]This list [is] designed to rate who is the most successful and in-demand now, is not based on the artists' entire careers. The information factored in for the discussion revolved around what has happened in the past six months to a year. Attributes factored in to the list were "straight-up skills, success (both musical and entrepreneurial), impact on the game and — new to our decision-making — swagger: an MC's cool factor and how they carry themselves on and off recordings," according to MTV.[/i:3daa086aa0] I think as far as [b:3daa086aa0]that[/b:3daa086aa0] criteria is concerned - these cats earned their spot. Well, excluding Jim Jones... I still woulda' put Luda in his stead. Take the Underground lense off for just a sec and judge these cats. I feel Weezy being in his spot. I don't like his music - but dude works his ass off. Common and Andre 3000 definitely earned their places too. And Kanye is like the sound behind a lot of cats' successes these days. Other than that - I really don't have an opinion.

  21. Jul 31, 2007 03:16am by Talysman
hmmmm.... Playing by the rules they've set out - my list would be: 10.) Chamillionaire and all the other one hit wonder people 9.) ludacris 8.) common 7.) andre 3000 6.) 50 cent 5.) jay-z 4.) young jeezy 3.) kanye west 2.) T.I. 1.) Lil' Wayne That's playing by the rules that they had to play by in making this list. haha - I don't like a lot of the people on this list but I have to/ wanted to play the game by their selection rules. My personal top 10 that are out in the industry right now having any kind of mainstream exposure: 10.) Snoop Dogg 9.) Ghost Face 8.) Jay Z 7.) Ludacris 6.) Talib Kweli 5.) Common 4.) Andre 3000 (have you heard the verse on the "Walk it out - RMX"?!?) 3.) Nas 2.) Kanye West 1.) Lupe Fiasco Your turn Dr.T...
