  4. Jul 22, 2007 12:24am by Deta!L - I just said that so you would stop bothering me.
allow myself to introduce myself and be the first to hate if this came out when ushers damn came out or 40 waters ghost ride the whip jump off it would have been hot but to me it just sounds tired...murs is on point as usual though

the second and third verses are tight. ^^^i kinda agree with what was said above, though Nevertheless, I'll be the first to buy [i:789d3f676b]President[/i:789d3f676b] when it comes out in September (hopefully). As a huge MURS fan, this song is kind of hard to digest, with it being a lot more mainstream than his older work (murs is major now, for those who don't know). I just don't want to hear him do anything that sounds like he's dumbing himself down. At the same time, like he said in a recent interview, "I've done all I can do in the underground." I guess we should just accept it. MURS is my favorite MC, and I don't want his upcoming album to change that, if that makes sense. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about his next album coming out. His last one, Murray's Revenge, was when he started to lean, musically, towards a mainstream fanbase and that made me scratch my head.

I'd be interested to know what Mac Lethal thinks about this song and MURS going major (?)

thats cool, i cant really hate i mean its not my style at all but.. he still sounds pretty good. i didnt know murs was on a major tho. that makes more sense. but also i didnt really like murrays revenge except for a few tracks.

Not a huge fan of this song. I don't think it's catchy enough to blow up, and I don't think it's Murs enough to appeal to his core audience. I don't think this is his big single though. He's a good friend of mine, so I really can't knock him for trying new things. I saw a video of him working in the studio with Snoop for his (Murs') new album. I am sure he has some sort of gangster ass single up his sleeve. As far as him going major, more power to him. I don't think major labels necessarily make anymore money than indy labels do anymore, though. In fact, I think most of them are blowing money on records that sell 72,000 copies (Shop Boyz, Mims etc.)

By the way, the song "I Hate Your Boyfriend" and/or the song dedicated to all the girls that sucked his dick, could probably blow up bigger than this song with major label promotion. Just a thought. Not really certain he needs to change his entire sound just to sell records. If he made a fun ass, easy to swallow record, I am pretty certain he would have 1 or 2 songs that could get some cult attention on a major label scale.

Murs is on point, but the production is just boring. It sounds good, but it's just straight flat boring.

lyrics are good! beat is average for Rick Rock. but this isnt a single its a Madden or some other game soundtrack. and that sound is late, as most sounds like that tend to be.

For Rick Rock, I think that's worse than average. He's still got his murs flow going a bit...but I do not like this song. I didn't know he went major...I really don't want to hear more of this on his next lp.

[/quote:123df6ec40] i think this is the problem with hyphy in general. it's just the way it's done i guess. more concentrated on the pulsating vibe...less on a hook that everyone can grab on to. and you're right...this feels like some early leak shit. seeing rick on the boards will get a lot of folks to check it and maybe some djs to start rinsing it (i'll be dropping it a time or two for sure). definitely interested to hear what else he's got in store for this record. anyone know what label signed him?

[quote:dc112f488d="DEMENCHA"]^^^yea you were telling me about that. that's crazy[/quote:dc112f488d] makes sense really. nitti's shit has gone darker lately...more banger type shit...and i'm sure rick wants some of that billboard love. their paths are crossing a bit.
  20. Jul 24, 2007 06:30am by maclethal
I am not mad at Nitti at all. That Yung Joc shit was a pest in my life, but it KNOCKED. Blah. Not having an argument about it.
  21. Jul 24, 2007 06:30am by maclethal
On needless to say, Nitti has made some good shit on other people's records.
  22. Jul 25, 2007 04:49am by cha-chE - www.myspace.com/tactickc www.myspace.com/brent22
no need to argue dawgs...no matter how WACK the emcee...real recognize real. y'all bitch about how horrible mainstream rap is, but fact is the dudes on the boards are doing exactly what mac just mentioned. it doesn't have to be as clean...but dudes in the underground should step up and make some heatrocks just cause. why the fuck not?
