my friend jenny recently got busted for possession. so that sucks. but what really sucks is that it was three days away from her eighteenth birthday. so, what they initially got her for was cigarettes. and they are charging her as a minor for that, but she was holding at the time, and they are charging her as an adult for that. what kind of bullshit is this? really, this is irrelevant to hiphopkc.com, but i just want to hear what you good people have to say about this.

pretty fucking ridiculous... I feel for her man.. Plenty of my friends have had similar shit happen, I'm just the lucky one... knock on wood. If there is diversion for this I'd call massive bullshit...

she needs to make sure she gets a lawyer, if they found the weed the same time they found the cigs then they cannot separate the charges, they must put both charges into one case or choose the cigs or the weed and proceed that way. now if they found the weed at a separate time, example; a friend got arrested(fighting), searched when 1st put in cuffs but they missed a dime bag, later at the station another officer who did a second search found it therefor separate charge. if they would have found it the 1st search then he'd have had two charges at his single hearing. if they found her weed when they found the cigs and are still charging her for the cigs then the weed charge has to be for a minor and presented to the judge at the same time. just tell her to get a lawyer. if she needs a recommendation for a good one i know plenty who are reasonably priced and will work with her on payment arrangements.
