I have known there are major issues with Westport.
[b:b1bca3638e]However, I have recently heard more and more stories of unjustified Violence toward citizens by Westport Security. This needs to be addressed. [/b:b1bca3638e]
We need to have a public meeting to address this situation.
Club Owners, Promoters, Employees, DJs, Press, and Security need to meet and openly discuss the current status of Wesport with respect to Biases and Brutality.
I know many of you have had experiences there of all types. To Start, I invite you to respond to this post with your stories... Good or Bad in Westport.

I used to live right behind sunfresh. We would watch people getting arrested at the sobriety checkpoint. One time a scurity officer was bringing someone to the real police from Westport. We were laughing at him.
We were behind a closed fence drinking on our porch. We were like, "Ha look a toy cop, trying to be a real cop." He was like I will arrest you for public drunkiness." We were like, "try it." How bout you come on our property and try to arrest on of us. Since we havent broken any laws. he was like, "You guys are obstructing justice."
He tried to get other cops to say something but one cop was like, "they are the least of our worries."
the Block was hot.
Another time we were walking to the Beach Club. there was this black dude standing at the back of a paddy wagon. Like 5 to 6 cops. The cops asked him a question. ( I seen the dude was already in cuffs) He gave an answer.
They obviously did not like what he said because, what followed was the loudest scream that I have ever heard from a grown man. It was a shreek that i could here even after I got inside the club. I could here it over and over again, in my head. It was tragic and scary. they must have tasered that dude in the nuts.
He was screaming in pain!

A week later we heard a story about that happening frequently in Westport with the new KCMO taser force!

I'm sorry but i'd much rather focus on something else. Every experience I've had with there security down there hasn't been bad. I was taking a piss in the parking garge by the Beamount Club and the secuirty officer came and told me to "zip up" he could have got me for public urienation. We should probably focus on the non-sense that goes on down there by the thugs. 4 people shot the other weekend the most critically injured was an injured by stander.

Westport has always been a mixed bag for me. @ 53, westport is a place I go quickly and get out. Mixed signals, and the greed and control is viserally apparent.
Murry's Ice Cream, New Peking, Californo's for kkfi stuff, McCoy for Be/Non and or burly crew gurly crew, not much at night. it feels like a much less cordial mass st. night in lawrence.

Then there's the race issue of the Kansas City Metro and how that plays out in places like westport, plaza, malls, and probably the new development when it gets rolling in regards to potential big money nights/events and then it gets really tense.
Given that these things are [u:c8b617f035]not new[/u:c8b617f035], but are being experienced by [u:c8b617f035]a new generation of metronites[/u:c8b617f035], I just watch to see what if anything will change.
I ain't gon study war no mo. been there done that even did the side tour of it and I'm tired of struggling now.
just wanna be the change I'd like to see. that doesn't mean my head is in the sand, it just means, I'm being about it now, not talking much about it anymore.

I hear you.
Personally, in only the 2 or so years I've lived in KC, I haven't talked much or done much about it and would like to. I'm doing my homework 1st. I can imagine that it gets tiring.. but I'm willing to exhaust some energy on it. respect
This issue needs to be broken down from the beginning. Someone needs to write a pamphlet that sums it up. Keeping "thugs" out of Westport doesnt help stop violence. Neither does beating them up.

Both issues should be fixed really soon otherwise Westport will become a ghost town once the Arena & Entertainment district is finished I can't picture Westport having much of a crowd with the recent violence and now police brutuality.
