Topic: Every Wednesday - Bassline Pressure

For starters, Strictly Reggae Happy Hour is done (for now.) We started out with sort of a reggae-centric vibe, but I don't think KC is really that into reggae. I'm also going to be playing a little less jungle and more downtempo (be that hip-hop, trip-hop, soul, illbient, zombient, or whatever else you want to call "beats and noise")...it's going to be a slightly more experimental vibe. We're definitely trying to bring something new to the KC scene. What I loved about hip-hop growing up was that it felt experimental...there was no formula (unlike now.) You could say I'm trying to get that feeling back in some way.     [color=red:823477274e]Thanks...nothing lasts forever (even cold November rain...sorry, couldn't resist) but I hope it lasts for a while...at least until this Summer is over. And yeah, Jilly's is...Jilly's. But it's a nice little vibe. Actually, Spiderbigger might be spinning some ska and rocksteady in the near future (when we get another CD deck), but for now it's roots and dub. Peace, Will [/color:823477274e]

    does BOB and DEVONA still own and try to manage this place? if so good luck man.. i've seen good nights start and end there over the years... and the reasons haven't been good. i've been here too long.. haha

I sort of knew going into it what I was getting myself into (a mutual friend of ours told me it was "a rollercoaster".) So far, I haven't had any problems [crosses fingers]. The way I look at it, it is a venue where we can play the kind of stuff we're playing for a minute and I'm just about enjoying it and sharing the music while I can.     no doubt man... as long as you get to play what you want and chill that'll be dope... don't let my biased opinion on those crackhead owners get in the way of what you do man.. i'll keep it at that... but i just would had to see another DJ leave that venue pissed off. someone needs to buy that place from them if you ask me... haha it's a good spot....tiny as hell so it seems packed when people come out... it's got a rep so people know where it's at.. and it's got parking ... and no neighbors to complain... and it's close to the crossroads for easy 1st friday events... hmmm i should talk to a loan officer.. haha

    jilly's is a great spot. i don't know much about the people who run it but I've heard things. And yes, a lot of dope DJ events have been held there, residencies, but they seem to not stay for long. Good luck.

    [color=yellow:f2595458b0]I haven't had as much fun playing records in a minute as I did last week and there were a lot of records I wished I could've gotten to, so I'm playing a bunch of old-school hip-hop (and maybe some electro-funk) again tonight. Tonight will also be the first time Spiderbigger and myself do a Dubstep tag set. I've got some new super-dubby tunes and I think it's going to be pretty tight. See yers there![/color:f2595458b0]
