Sent today....... For too many people, politics is a bad word. It's not surprising since for many people "politics" means talking heads screaming at each other on TV, or special interests stacking the deck in Washington. We have an opportunity to change that. When politics gets local, when the person talking is your neighbor standing on your front porch, things change. On June 9th, hundreds of thousands of people will have that experience as we take our campaign to the streets in all 50 states for a nationwide neighborhood walk. We're calling it Walk for Change, and its success depends on you. I'm asking you for something extraordinary. I'm asking you to lead a group of supporters in your community in a neighborhood walk to let people know about our campaign. If you agree to organize a walk, we'll mail you the materials you need to start a conversation with your neighbors about being part of this movement for change. But it can only happen if you're willing to take the leap and put together a June 9th Walk for Change event where you live: http://my.barackobama.com/createwalk http://my.barackobama.com/page/m/e6dBXU30LNB/XtDfLg

Sup Kids? New Info [quote:95433c6b82] The Kansas City Kick off has been posted on the Barack Obama website. To purchase your tickets as soon as possible, it is easiest to sign online and get them. That way the national campaign can track sales. People will still be able to get a hard ticket for the Obama Rama on Sunday. It is going to be so much fun. Anyway, here is the address, there is not www. in front of it: https://donate.barackobama.com/page/contribute/kckickoff Just put that in your internet address line and fill out the ticket form. Also If you are interested in being a Ticket Captain please email us. Ticket Captains commit to selling a certain number of tickets. If you sell 50 tickets, you can get your Barack Obama book signed by the Senator on the 12th. If you sell 100 you get to meet the Senator on May 12th. We will be selling tickets at First Friday next week and the Farmers Market on Saturday morning. If you would like to volunteer to help we could use people giving out fliers and selling tickets. It should be a lot of fun. If you know of any other big events between now and May 12th. Help us organize some ticket sales. And finally, pick any Kansas City newspaper and start sending letters to the editor about your support for Barack Obama. Also, anyone under the age of 16 will get into the May 12th rally for free. That is the update for now. Thank you for your time and effort. Sincerely, Joshua Reed[/quote:95433c6b82] Thanks to those of you for joining! Posted by AF

Sunday was Obama Rama at the Uptown Theatre. I did see a few Hip Hop heads. But very few. The event was at the same time as the protest, at Volker Park, to IMPEACH. I hope you were there. It seemed like there were more volunteers than supporters. However once it got started. People were having a good time. A group of ladies performed a few step routines. I am not aware of the name of the group, but apparently they have been around for a minute. I was kind of unprepared. They were playing all sorts of music, R&B, Funk and even a llittle Hip Hop. I think it was Will Smith. (safe) The Owner of the organizer of the event spoke, then the owner of the Uptown spoke. Then Farouk Olu Aregbe spoke. He started a site on Facebook called...."One Million Strong for Barack". Its on facebook, you should login and join.[/color:ce2f778020] (beware of the fakes) This is what the site pic should look like. I promise to be a little more prepared the next time. I wont tell you that you missed something. I did get a chance to network and spread info about HipHopKc.com. There is a possibility I may need a few emcees, or a group to perform at a function for Obama. pm me if you are intrested. I will post more info when I get it. PEACE AF[/color:ce2f778020] also..... [quote:ce2f778020]Hi Ace, Josh Reed is taking the lead on all volunteer efforts and May 12 ticket sales coordination. KCHipHop can sell tickets by simply referring their ppl to my.barackobama/kckickoff to purchase their tickets. There is a place on the on-line site for them to put in KC Hip Hop as the org that referred them to receive credit. The campaign will email back vouchers which will be accepted at the door May 12. There will be no tickets sold at the door. (Josh will also have tickets for sale at First Friday and the City Market this weekend. They can buy them there. He's also looking for volunteers to pass out fliers- so please have your friends who are interested in helping contact him asap) Regarding entertainment for the event. This is a campaign function and we have very little influence. But, if you want to send your stuff to Josh, he can forward it on for consideration??? Thanks Ace- it was so nice meeting you yesterday! May 12, 2007 8:15 PM Nearly 3,000 pack hotel ballroom to listen to Obama KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama used a campaign fundraiser Saturday to remind about 3,000 supporters of their role in the balance of power in the U.S. Congress. "We have 51 votes in the Senate, and to have a veto-proof majority the next time we send a bill to end the war, we're going to need 16 more votes," Obama told the crowd gathered at the downtown Marriott hotel. "So I need everybody to take a look at how your senators are voting and how your congressmen are voting. We are 16 votes away from ending this war." Obama was referring to President Bush's veto earlier this month of a $124.2 billion bill that would have funded the war in Iraq, among other things, but demanded troops begin coming home Oct. 1. Republicans agreed to uphold the veto, and Democrats were forced back to the drawing board. The Kansas City fundraiser was the Illinois senator's second in as many days in Missouri. He was in St. Louis on Friday for a public $50 a ticket appearance and for a private event. Absent from the stage with Obama on Saturday were Missouri Democrats Sen. Claire McCaskill and Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, neither of whom has endorsed Obama's bid for the presidency. McCaskill said she has no immediate plans to endorse a Democratic candidate. Cleaver, of Kansas City, Mo., does not plan to endorse anyone anytime soon, his spokesman Danny Rotert has said. During his half-hour speech, Obama also briefly touched on his proposal for universal health care, which he said would be at least in part driven by $75 billion in savings from improved technology in the field. "If we move to the same kind of technologies that exist in every other industry, we save money. We can save $75 billion a year in improving the quality of our care, and we take that $75 billion and make sure that every single American has health care," he said to cheering and applause. Obama also criticized the Bush administration for what he called "its lack of energy policy" and said he wants to encourage Detroit to make more energy-efficient vehicles. "If we increase fuel efficient standards by 40 percent, we would have to import zero oil from the Middle East," Obama said. "We could stop sending $800 million a day to some of the most hostile nations on earth." And, he touched on his ties to the Kansas City area, reminding supporters to great applause that his mother was from neighboring Kansas. "I knew we're going to get some Kansans here." ©2007 Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed. [/color:1dcdf60fec]And..... [quote:1dcdf60fec]Dear ACE, Barack has been traveling across the country asking people to speak out and let their Senators know that it's time to end the Iraq war. One Republican colleague has already called this "not Senatorial". But this isn't about Washington etiquette, it's about bringing our troops home. This isn't a game. We need just 16 additional votes to override the president's veto and bring to a close this sad chapter in American history. It's going to take some convincing, but Senators need to hear from people in their states that they can join us to bring a responsible end to the war. That's where you come in. There are 20 incumbent Republican Senators facing re-election battles in 2008. They will have to make clear very soon whether they will continue to block efforts to bring the troops home. Now is the time to hold them accountable for their choices on the war. Their constituents are making their voice heard, but they need to hear from all of us. Will you speak out now and add your voice to the growing public pressure to end the war? http://my.barackobama.com/16votes With one signature, George Bush could have ended this war. Instead, he vetoed the legislation, ignoring the reality on the ground in Iraq yet again. But that will not be the last word if the American people have anything to say about it. In the Senate, we need just 16 additional votes to override the veto and end the Iraq war. This isn't the time to trust the president to do the right thing. It's time to end this war, and across the country people need to speak out and let their Senators know. No one of us can do it alone, and it's not going to happen tomorrow. But a movement to create the kind of change we need starts with you. Thank you, David David Plouffe Campaign Manager Obama for America[/quote:1dcdf60fec]

ACE -- Barack Obama won an overwhelming victory in South Carolina on Saturday. People came out in record numbers and voted for change. Now, after four early state contests, Barack has the most votes, the most delegates, and the most diverse coalition of supporters we've seen in a long time. But this is no time to rest -- the stakes will be even higher one week from tomorrow. On February 5th, 22 states, including Missouri, will hold primaries and caucuses. We have exactly one week to prepare. You can help Barack compete on the biggest day of the campaign by signing up to help Get Out The Vote in Missouri: http://my.barackobama.com/MOgotv Here are a few details about our victory in South Carolina. According to the official results and CNN exit polls, Barack won: * 55% of the total vote, more than twice as many votes as any other candidate * 57% of voters who had never voted in a primary * 66% of voters who had never voted before at all * Every type of community -- urban, suburban, and rural * 58% of voters between ages 18 and 64 * 67% of voters between ages 18 and 29 The clear lesson from South Carolina is that voters are ready to bring this country together and solve the problems that matter to ordinary Americans. This election isn't about race or gender, income level or education level. It's about the past and the future. The moment to act is now. We're campaigning from Alaska to Georgia, from California to New York. Your support right now is more important than ever. Sign up to volunteer in Missouri and help Get Out The Vote: http://my.barackobama.com/MOgotv Thank you for your support, David David Plouffe Campaign Manager Obama for America P.S. -- If you haven't had a chance to watch Barack's victory speech from Saturday night, watch it here: http://my.barackobama.com/scvictoryspeech
