howdy.
yesterday sucked.
i woke up to find that my back driver side window had been smashed
out overnight (after HH&HW) and someone made off with my
JBL Mpro 215 speakers that we've been using as the downstairs' main
speakers at the peanut for the last 2 1/2 years.
i know i was a fool to leave them in the car overnight as i just had
my turntables stolen from the car a few months earlier, and there is
a rampant heroin problem in my neighborhood. i just didn't expect someone to try to make off with a 75 lb object let alone two of them
while an alarm is going off. (which somehow i slept through)
anyhow, I KNOW I'M MOSTLY TO BLAME but...
this was a blow.
and i hope this isn't viewed as a shameless request... as i feel bad asking,
but for the next couple of weeks at the peanut i am going to put out
a donation jar. i'm not asking for much. anything from anyone will be hugely appreciated.
$1, $5, $10. whatever you can spare to help us absorb the cost of
replacing these as soon as we can.
we have a temporary resolution thanks to Aaron Osborne (thank you sooo much aaron) but i don't want to put him out any longer than i have to.
so yeah i'm kind of asking for a handout here, but it is in the interest of
keeping the night going smoothly so we can all have a good time this year.
thank you all for the support you've consistently given. and i have no
expectations from anyone on this but as i said. anything you can spare
will be a big help.
thanks.

I think it's completely legit to ask for donations, B. And I hope that the HH&HW community will be as generous to you as you've been to us!
Uh, may I ask what neighborhood you live in, with this rampant heroin problem?

I hope you live in a secure building because it may or may not be the same person who got your tables. Point being, now a thief (possibly 2) knows that you have pro audio gear. All they have to do is wait and see what door you walk into to find out where you live and they already know what kind of car to look for. You gotta stop slippin bro, I hate hearin shit like that happening to good people.

^^^
word.
i got the insurance going the day after and now i'm kicking myself for
having not done it sooner, as it's a mere $16 a month.
and that had occurred to me jd. it's only a matter of
time before their balls meter max out and come through
my front door.
on that note, thanks to you dillon for advertising my new pride and joy
to all potential thieves. dick. 😉
and i'm in the valentine neighborhood nadia, over by roanoke park.
it's getting out of hand. i'd say half of the tenants on my block are
strung out on junk. needles all in the parking lot and shit.
it's ridiculous.
thanks to you all for your sympathy.

When I lived on 40th and Warwick, the crack problem was horrendous. I stayed there even after a couple things were stolen from me, and eventually they just burned the building down. Literally, the crack heads upstairs caught their mattress on fire and most of the building turned a blackened brick shell. My shit didn't all burn, but it got thoroughly looted.
Sometimes its just best to move.
But yeah, the donation scheme is thoroughly valid and I plan to contribute. Good luck.

if you ask me there should always be an empty beer pitcher by the DJ table for tips...
-you wanna request a song..hit the tip jar..
-you got a girls number cuz you were groovin' to a song...hit the tip jar
-you won a bet that you could name all the members in Wu-Tang in under 5 seconds...hit the tip jar..
hahaha..
but seriously...
The DeeJays at the Cup n Saucer (RIP) used to pass around the tip jar all the time...
and people would give like it was church!
haha

My boy Justin just had his CDJ800 ripped off at Balancas after a show. Mad people were hanging around and some fuck just walked on stage and bounced with it.

our little cause.
we did much better than i had hoped for.
we'll do this one more time and the pledge drive will be over.
thank you again so VERY much.
