Everyone wants to paint Imus as some hateful KKK member and maybe he is hateful but I do recall he was friends with some black guy that died recently. I think he was a bishop of some sort but I cant remember his name. Anyway the comments were very messed up but i'm not sure that he totally dislikes the black race.

i dont believe that making racist comments make you a racist, i do believe that some people are just plain ignorant to what is acceptable & unacceptable to say. I have met people who were sincerely unaware just how deep the sensitivity of issues like this can cut. He surley knows now, if he wasnt aware before that those type of statements wont fly.

Its not about freedom of speech, its about being held accountable. Its funny that this is coming out during the 35th anniversary of womens suffrage. People are not sensitive enough and are saying what they want. i hear people all over Kansas City use those nasty words, Spic,Wetback,Mojado, Nigger, Kyke, Chink, Wop, Fag...a phrase coined by Hitler no less, and everybodies ghetto or gay. wtf? no one seems to be held accountable. Eveyone just resigns, then they show up five years later doing the same kind of work. ..... i.e. Henry Kissenger. Lack of education is no excuse for being insensitive. It continues and it is getting worse. Nothing happened to Mike Richards and he is still working. He should absolutely be relieved of his duties at MSNBC. And not simply because of this one incident, but because there have been several instances of racial insensitivity on the airwaves. They should make an example out of him. And McGuirk.

You dont have to be so condescending. Thing is the guy has said stuff before everyone kinda turned there head were was everyone the first time it happend? Secondly you put a racist shock dj behind a mic you're going to get racist shock comments simple. Its become part of American culture to bitch about things and never really fix them protesting and complaning about it isnt going to do much and I don't see what calling for his head will do. My solution is THIS: WFAN should be fined 500k Imus himself should be fined 500K and MSNBC should be fined 500k. All of that money would go to a poor black community to help improve the school, build a libary ect.

Given the nature of this thread,& my senario, I didnt think i had to explain what the repercussions of a white mans actions would be for calling someone a nappy headed hoe...in a corporate environment...not on the street... but fine....my bad.... Secondly your right ....if you put a racist dj on the radio...you will get racist remarks...with that being said, I dont see how putting a band-aid on this cut...(fining the station)... is gonna teach him or the station a lesson. Im not suggesting that the man get his ass-kicked but I am suggesting that he recieves a signal that he will feel thats more effective than any protest, any fine & any half-ass apology he can give. The REAL probelm with situations like these is that its becoming so standard & routine, that within 48 hours, all is forgiven & everybody moves on without the guilty being SLIGHTLY punished....& at the end of the day, it's seen as the innocent complaning because the guilty has already used his "get out of jail free" card by saying two simple words "Im sorry", meaning that public humiliation within a 7-day time spand should serve as his only source of punishment.... To say that its just a bunch of complaning is rediculous. We dont have the power to fire him, this thread would be irrelivant if we did.... but we do have the power to voice our opinions.... which is what makes this thread what it is...

You know those offensively obvious pre-employment tests they make you take at some interviews? With the questions like "Is it okay to steal from your employer sometimes?" You would think for a job with this salary and level of exposure that there might be an upgraded test out there with questions like "No one really believes we're all equal, do they?" As offensive as the tests that are submitted to us lower/middle class are there is a reason for them. There are actually idiots out there that answer the truth of thier mind instead of what the company wants to hear. I bet the television industry would be shocked by the outcome of a mass employee testing. Haha, the first time I saw one of those tests I was thinkin "okay, this is basically a separation tool to see who's a clueless moron and who's worthy of the time for a physical interview." Then I heard them telling this guy at the desk "based on your test score we're unable to offer you employment at this time." WTF?

So, help me out. In his talk with Jessie Jackson, the concern over the statement "Nappy-headed hoes" focuses on the use of the word "nappy" rather than "hoes". Why is it bad to refer to someone as having "nappy" hair, but not to refer to a girl as a ho? I mean this seriously. I don't know this guy. I'm not trying to get into the ethics of whether the brunt of what he said was wrong or not. But, is the word "nappy" a bad word?

As if Don Imus has any idea on the texture of Black hair... That comment had little to do with hair grade and everything to do with the fact that the Rutgers women athletes are almost entirely of a dark complexion while their Volunteer counterparts are much fairer-skinned (ie, the "School Daze" reference to the 'Jiggaboo - Wannabe' scene). That was terribly irresponsible and commentary like that only reinforces and further polarizes the chasm that exists between darker-skinned and fairer-skinned Black folks. That's a very real thing. Residual effects ya'll...

So when he used the term "nappy-headed" , he already implied that the statment was being made towards black players on the team in a deragatory manner... calling them hoe's only compounded the issues.... so naturally, the next issue would be, how far would this have went if would have refered to them as simply nappy-headed? ...the answer...the same...... again this is a [u:eab9a82190]deragatory[/u:eab9a82190] term used towards black people in general, male or female. [quote:501e592ab7="Lucidialect"]So, help me out. But, is the word "nappy" a bad word?[/quote:501e592ab7] nappy is a deragotory term towards black hair. So when he used the term "nappy-headed" , he already implied that the statment was being made towards black players on the team in a deragatory manner... calling them hoe's only compounded the issues.... so naturally, the next issue would be, how far would this have went if would have refered to them as simply nappy-headed? ...the answer...the same...... again this is a [u:501e592ab7]deragatory[/u:501e592ab7] term used towards black people in general, male or female. Wheter he was aware of this matter prior to saying it is debatable. Im gonna assume that he did given the fact he chose to go address his side of it on Al Shartpton's radio show & not at a Womens Rights convention. Women in general could easily be offended by him using the word ho, however he is apologizing to the people in which his comments where intened towards & thats was clearly the black females on that team....

"On ABC's "NBA Hangtime" this past Sunday, director Spike Lee brazenly stated his belief that Larry Bird is the most overrated basketball player of all time. He charged that Bird, a three-time NBA Champion and three-time league MVP, got the attention he did because he was a white guy, a novelty, playing ball in a sport dominated by black guys. According to Lee, as the so-called "white media" adored Bird for his work ethic and his dedication, they made it seem as though black superstars like Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar didn't have to work to be great -- they were able to just roll out of bed and be excellent basketball players. "Listen to the white media and it is like nobody has ever played basketball before Larry Bird," Lee said. "[It's like] no black person ever played the game." Spike Lee said that... Rush Limbaugh said something similuar about Donovan McNabb and got fired.

It is alot more acceptable for the word "honky" to be used given that there are plenty of ol school country singers who used it in songs titles & to this day is NOT cut out when played on the airwaves, unlike the "N" word. Look, nobody here is defending what you've experienced or heard a black person say deragatory to a white person, I know racism is a two-headed coin, however, we are talking about what THIS particular man, said to THIS particular race of people. Ignorance is mulit-colored & it just so happend in THIS instance, the guilty party is white..... As a human being, you cannot take accountabilty or credit for everything your particular race, religion or ethnicity does.... but i do know that when they accomplish something, you share their pride..& when they are hurt....you share their pain.... We are back @ the very essence of what this all boils down to....accoutability...
Lou I was taking this time to ask something I've always wondered. I've already stated the guy was in the wrong for his comments but shouldn't be fired mainly because it wouldn't be just him loosing his job. Some on here have seemed to taken offense to what i've said it wasn't meant to be personal AT ALL.

Man. I skipped most everything written after my last post was answered. I don't really even feel like posting in this thread again, but I do want to ask a question that I feel is relevant. It actually doesn't even have too much to do with the jackass from the radio Maybe its not even a question, but I want someone's take. Lou Rip wrote [quote:e3f0003869]nappy is a deragotory term towards black hair. So when he used the term "nappy-headed" , he already implied that the statment was being made towards black players on the team in a deragatory manner... [/quote:e3f0003869] See. It's so strange. Many of my friends are black. Whatever. Many of my friends are many races. So throughout life I'm sort of like a culmination of creed, culture, traditions and language I learned from my friends. Now, I can hang out with any of these people and know the obvious "what not to say". But it seems there's so much language on the borderline of appropriate, and as we get more comfortable with each other, these words more easily slip through social radar and integrate into one's regular vocab. If I learn a word that I don't know is bad, and there's no signifiers within my social circle to distinguish it as such, then I have no way of knowing that when I say this word on a public bus that its going to be received any differently than by my friends. So, this is all to say: If words are felt to be inappropriate by us, isn't it our responsibility to not use those words ourselves? I don't think this question is fully what I'm trying to get at. But it's pretty close.

now you have come to the place my great grandmother, grandmother, and mother were living from. no one who has ever been called a nigger with hatred hissing from the caller's lips wants to hear that word spoken by their children in jest, out of love for each other, or any other such non sense. I have spoken to my sons and their friends about this many times and their response to me was "we are choosing to reclaim this word as a term of friendship, comraderie, and togetherness mom" to which, I could only recount to them the things I have seen this word do, how it has been used to hurt, illiminate, marginalize, a entire people and that the ancestors fought for this to change for "THEM" so they would never know the full weight of OUR PEOPLE'S journey in america. at 53 years old, I am still subject to the diminishing toll this word and the hatred that accompanied it have taken on my soul. I am 4 generations removed from slavery at the hands of massa and missy and I have hate in me for the treatment and use of my people to build this country. I have confusion daily about what I "should" feel about this whole history. I pray for a labotomy daily. a chance to forget what I know. and still.... . . . . . . . .. I love, my heart loves who it loves, these questions, actions, behaviors make me feel lost. they are circular in nature. there is no way out except through. what I have learned, experienced, seen and been within hiphop culture as given me a glimmer of hope that "WE MIGHT ALL BE FREE OF THIS MADDNESS" but being free does not mean being thoughtless, careless, or ignorant to collective history. so lucid, I hear you I wish the n word would evaporate poof never to be heard by anyone again. I wish my sons and their friends would not use it. I wish no one would use it, but I live in the real world so i know it will continue to be used and continue to be a source of discussions like this one that are circular with no chance of ending. I want to be free from my racist feelings, they are my personal prison and hell. they depress me and cause me to not trust my heart how about you lucid? what do these combined histories create in you peace necia renee gamby ps. sometimes these convos are better in person. it is easy to misinterpret each other with only words to go on. second what I wrote is how I feel I am not suggesting anyone should be or do anything except who or what they feel. this shit may never end, I am facing within myself. again do you I am doin me

Racial insensitivity is wrong. Across the board. Whether it comes from Don Imus, Spike Lee, or Larry Johnson. I'm troubled that you're going to such lengths to defend Don Imus though WG... It seems almost like you're trying to justify his actions with the bigotry others have put on display... It's wrong... Period. But America doesn't care, really... He was slapped on the wrist. He'll go back to his show in 2 weeks... MSNBC doesn't give two shits about the millions of Black folk he offended when he made those hateful remarks. Necia. To answer your question: "Color" is such a strange distinction between people. Right? On one hand, my race committed genocidal murders to claim this land. As well, my race enslaved Africans to as a means to progress industry. And yet. My family, as far as I've researched, never owned slaves. And we didn't come here until well after the native Americans were killed. But this doesn't really matter. Regardless, I feel tied to the history of my people. This inspires in me humility. I can't really understand it all. The only thing I understand is that people are flawed, and that someone's always on top and someone's always on bottom. And some people I never knew did some really foul shit to some other people I never knew. And we all inherit that and are challenged by it. So what I have is the challenge to do my best to see equality with and live in that image. Simple humility.

[b:cfa4e153e0]TODAY IN THE KC STAR[/b:cfa4e153e0][/size:cfa4e153e0] this is just one more example of a pervasive yet underground sentiment in the entire country. the authors email address is included if you wish to state your views directly Everything that is hidden MUST COME INTO THE LIGHT FOR A REAL CHANGE TO TAKE PLACE. COMMENTARY SHAUNTAY L. HENDERSON ‘Girl in the News’ defies our expectations By RHONDA CHRISS LOKEMAN Columnist Smiling like a jailhouse jackanapes, one of Kansas City’s crazy little women holds up her handcuffed wrists and mugs for the cameras. At her arraignment on a murder charge, “Girl in the News” was not as she appeared during her arrest, which followed an uneventful surrender when police surprised her at a friend’s Northland apartment. The cops said she was afraid that they would kill her and took her time talking to them from behind a locked door. Fear of mortality seems an odd reaction for an accused killer and female leader of a violent gang. But even the atheist cries out to God when she thinks her number is up. Even the misogynist calls for his mommy when cornered. Yet, it wasn’t expected of Shauntay L. Henderson, baby-faced and fresh to the FBI’s Most Wanted List. On her pimped-out MySpace site, Girl in the News, as she calls herself, is pictured in a hooded jacket. She holds what looks like a joint. It’s a rebellious, street-tough gesture. She calls herself one “Bad (expletive deleted),” which sort of rhymes with Comcast witch. Another photo shows her looking girly while on the phone in an immaculate kitchen. It is a sign of the times that those violently predisposed are taking advantage of the information superhighway. Al-Qaida terrorists use the Internet to publicize their misdeeds and amass support. So do made-in-America thugs who terrorize neighborhoods and seek to promote their exploits through Brave New World technology. Girl gets lots of attention because it’s considered rare to have a female head of a male-dominated gang. It isn’t often that a girl goes from 12th Street and Vine to America’s Most Wanted. Girl in the News likes publicity. So did Bonnie Parker, who would assume a sultry pose for photos taken between armed bank robberies. She and her partner, Clyde Barrow, used newspapers to shove their crimes in the faces of sheriffs. On Girl’s MySpace site, there’s a message likening her and a partner to “Bonnie and Claude.” (Gangstas emphasize shooting skills, not spelling.) Actually, publicity surrounding crimes is where any similarity between Bonnie and Girl ends. Bonnie was a gun-toting hillbilly who celebrated her crimes. Girl wants to be presumed innocent until found guilty. There could be more Hottentot Venus than hick to this story. Except Girl will be studied behind bars, not behind the walls of a museum. Police thought Girl might have shaved her head to avoid recognition. Not so. When arrested, her hair looked freshly done, folks said. She wasn’t trying to disguise herself. In no hurry to escape, she made a grooming pit stop. By the time of her arraignment, the hair was taken down. At the jail, they take away hairpins, weave tracks and braids. So when Girl mugged for the cameras, shouting to reporters, “I’m innocent, man, I’m innocent,” she looked like any other nappy-headed inmate processed through Jackson County corrections. Girl is accused of gunning down DeAndre Parker, 20, on Sept. 2, while he sat in a truck with his girlfriend. Girl is charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action related to gang-banging. Weighty charges for a girl about the size of Jada Pinkett Smith. The interest expressed here isn’t laudatory; it is anthropological. Girl is studied through the lens of Margaret Mead who said, “One of the oldest human needs is having someone to wonder where you are when you don’t come home at night.” People are born. Killers and other monsters are made. “Our humanity rests upon a series of learned behaviors, woven together into patterns that are infinitely fragile and never directly inherited,” Mead also said. Proof can be found along 31st Street, Prospect Avenue, 51st Street, along 12th Street and Vine and other mean streets across the country. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- More columns Rhonda Chriss Lokeman is a nationally syndicated columnist for Creators Syndicate. [b:b34a812009]Today the Coach of The Team Responds[/b:b34a812009][/size:b34a812009] Rutgers coach: Imus’ comments ‘despicable’ Players to meet with radio host, hope to ‘get something accomplished’ The Associated Press Updated: 12:20 p.m. CT April 10, 2007 PISCATAWAY, N.J - The Rutgers women’s basketball team will meet with embattled radio host Don Imus, and their coach on Tuesday called his comments “racist and sexist remarks that are deplorable, despicable and unconscionable.” Players stopped short of saying whether they thought Imus should be fired. Effective Monday, Imus has been suspended for two weeks for calling the Rutgers female basketball players “nappy-headed hos.” “We all agreed the meeting with Mr. Imus will help,” Essence Carson, a member of the team that lost the NCAA women’s championship game to Tennessee last week, said. “We do hope to get something accomplished during this meeting.” Teammate Matee Ajavon said: “I could say that we honestly don’t know what to expect from Don Imus and what we will plan on asking him is his reasons and how you could just say things that you have not put any thought to? Right now I can’t really say if we have come to a conclusion of whether we will accept the apology. What I can say I think this meeting will be crucial for us, the state of New Jersey and everybody representing us.” Head coach C. Vivian Stringer said her players “are the best this nation has to offer, and we are so very fortunate to have them at Rutgers University. They are young ladies of class, distinction. They are articulate, they are gifted. They are God’s representatives in every sense of the word.” She said it’s not about the players “as black or nappy-headed. It’s about us as a people. When there is not equality for all, or when there has been denied equality for one, there has been denied equality for all.” She further said: “While they worked hard in the classroom and accomplished so much and used their gifts and talents, you know, to bring the smiles and the pride within this state in so many people, we had to experience racist and sexist remarks that are deplorable, despicable, and abominable and unconscionable. It hurts me.” Imus started the firestorm after Rutgers lost championship game. He was speaking with producer Bernard McGuirk and said “that’s some rough girls from Rutgers. Man, they got tattoos ...” “Some hardcore hos,” McGuirk said. “That’s some nappy-headed hos there, I’m going to tell you that,” Imus said. Imus’ comments about the Rutgers players struck a chord, in part, because it was aimed at a group of young women enjoying athletic success. It also came in a different public atmosphere following the Michael Richards and Mel Gibson incidents, said Eric Deggans, columnist for the St. Petersburg Times and chairman of the media monitoring committee of the National Association of Black Journalists. The NABJ’s governing board, which doesn’t include Deggans, wants Imus canned. “What I did was make a stupid, idiotic mistake in a comedy context,” Imus said on his show Tuesday morning, the final week before his suspension starts. Asked by “TODAY” host Matt Lauer if he could clean up his act as he promised on Monday, he said, “Well, perhaps I can’t.” But he added, “I have a history of keeping my word.” Of the two-week suspension by MSNBC and CBS Radio, he said: “I think it’s appropriate, and I am going to try to serve it with some dignity.” The Rev. Al Sharpton also appeared on “TODAY” and called the suspension “not nearly enough. I think it is too little, too late.” He said presidential candidates and other politicians should refrain from going on Imus’ show in the future. Comic Bill Maher, CBS News political analyst Jeff Greenfield and former Carter administration official Hamilton Jordan all appeared on Imus’ show Tuesday. Imus, who appeared on Sharpton’s syndicated radio program for two hours Monday, accused the minister of lacking courage for refusing an invitation to appear on “Imus in the Morning.” Sharpton said he couldn’t tell people not to watch the show and then appear on it. “It’s not about courage,” he said. MSNBC, which telecasts the radio show, said Imus’ expressions of regret and embarrassment, coupled with his stated dedication to changing the show’s discourse, made it believe suspension was the appropriate response. (MSNBC.com is a joint venture of Microsoft and NBC Universal. NBC TV is wholly owned by NBC Universal.) “Our future relationship with Imus is contingent on his ability to live up to his word,” the network said late Monday. Imus, who has made a career of cranky insults in the morning, was fighting for his job following the joke that by his own admission went “way too far.” He continued through the day Monday, both on his show and Sharpton’s. The Rev. Jesse Jackson, who marched with about 50 protesters Monday outside NBC offices in Chicago, said Imus’ suspensions will not halt the protests. “This is a two-week cooling off period,” Jackson said. “It does not challenge the character of the show, its political impact, or the impact that these comments have had on our society.” Imus could be in real danger if the outcry causes advertisers to shy away from him, said Tom Taylor, editor of the trade publication Inside Radio. The National Organization for Women is also seeking Imus’ ouster. Imus isn’t the most popular radio talk-show host — the trade publication Talkers ranks him the 14th-most influential — but his audience is heavy on the political and media elite that advertisers pay a premium to reach. Authors, journalists and politicians are frequent guests — and targets for insults. He has urged critics to recognize that his show is a comedy that spreads insults broadly. Imus or his cast have called Colin Powell a “weasel,” New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson a “fat sissy” and referred to Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell of Colorado, an American Indian, as “the guy from ‘F Troop.”’ He and his colleagues also called the New York Knicks a group of “chest-thumping pimps.” On his show Monday, Imus called himself “a good person” who made a bad mistake. “Here’s what I’ve learned: that you can’t make fun of everybody, because some people don’t deserve it,” he said. “And because the climate on this program has been what it’s been for 30 years doesn’t mean that it has to be that way for the next five years or whatever because that has to change, and I understand that.” Baseball star Cal Ripken Jr., who was to appear on Imus’ show Tuesday to discuss a new book, canceled the appearance. “He didn’t want anyone getting the message that he agreed in any way, shape or form with the comments,” said John Maroon, Ripken’s publicist. “It was the right thing to do.” “TODAY” co-host Al Roker said Tuesday on his show’s official blog that it was time for Imus to go. “I, for one, am really tired of the diatribes, the ‘humor’ at others’ expense, the cruelty that passes for ‘funny,”’ Roker said. Even Howard Stern of Sirius Satellite Radio, a big fan of unrestricted content, mocked Imus’ apology, according to the New York Daily News. “He’s apologizing like a guy who got his first broadcasting job,” Stern said. “He should have said, ‘(expletive) you, it’s a joke.”’ Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain, whose presidential candidacy has been backed by Imus on the air, said he would still appear on Imus’ program. “He has apologized,” McCain said. “He said that he is deeply sorry. I’m a great believer in redemption.” Imus’ radio show originates from WFAN in New York City and is syndicated nationally by Westwood One, both managed by CBS. The show reached an estimated 361,000 viewers on MSNBC in the first three months of the year, up 39 percent from last year. That’s the best competitive position it has ever achieved against CNN (372,000 viewers). Imus’ fate could ultimately rest with two of the nation’s most prominent media executives: CBS Corp. chief Leslie Moonves and Jeff Zucker, head of NBC Universal. “He will survive it if he stops apologizing so much,” said Michael Harrison, publisher of Talkers. Imus clearly seems under corporate pressure to make amends, but he’s nearly reached the point where he is alienating the fans who appreciate his grumpy outrageousness. Even if he were to be fired, he’s likely to land elsewhere in radio, Harrison said. URL: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17999196/?GT1=9246

[quote:5e52184af4="Reach."]Racial insensitivity is wrong. If you've counted, several of us on here have said a few times as well, that there are instances of double standards & that none of us (me or u) can account for anything anyone else does in behalf of our race, class, gender, etnicity, ect...does.. The probelm is that this discussion has become personalized & it was never intended to do such. Simply to state the view that each individual felt regarding this situation. You stating that it was wrong does not excuse what wrong Imus has done. You are not entitled in anyway to defend him nor speak on Imus's behalf nor am I entitled to defend or speak on Larry Johnson or Spike Lee's behalf. We've acknowledged that there is a double standard but @ this (again) falls into accountabilty....theres no other way to state it...

There a plethora of related topics that can be discussed within the context of this discussion, but this is about Don Imus and his insensitivity towards the Rutgers' Women's Basketball Team. [quote:8f7e2c05d9]You want to see racism cracked down both ways PLEASE call it both ways this double standard in America is nothing but a bunch of BS. I knew they'd tapdance and talk about other incidences of racism in this country and allege that somehow Blacks have free "racist" reign. Cause truth is... Few people want to believe that we haven't made as much progress in this country as their little hearts will have them believe... FOR THE RECORD... Don Imus, HIMSELF, said that the usage of disparaging terminology from within the Black community DOES NOT EXCUSE his own mistake. So we can throw that out... And if that isn't enough... ALL BLACKS are not complicit in the usage of verbiage that disparages their own... So we can get off that stuff about how we're somehow licensing others to join in on verbally abusive behavior.

I have plainly said you did not do this. believe me when I say I have checked behind the scenes to make sure every one involved is speaking from their own self. the point is to keep going anger and all. find your way through those feeling back to a level place. this method is our best chance to not only learn from each other, but to grow from the information we get. as you stated to me you asked the questions innocently hoping to gain insights into this issue. answers are being given by all involved which means WE are ALL making headway into a new place of understanding. that is the intention you stated FOR YOURSELF at the on set of this conversation. again keep going until you regain your balance and retain the new information as a way to expand yourself your perspective, your understanding, and sensitivities. this is DOABLE whatsgood. its doable for ALL of us if we do not GO AWAY from the conversation, stop listening to each other and gaining insights from each other

[quote:53e4c07d17="Lucidialect"]Necia. Simple humility.[/quote:53e4c07d17] Yes lucid. this is where I am at with this also. personally I believe, this is where we come to when we accept the flawness and accountabilty of being human. if we remain simple and honest in our dialogue with each other, leave all rhetoric out of our person communications, then we are two people talking to each other from an open place, deciding how we will interact void of larger agendas from folks we don't know and who don't know us. to me simple open honest talk is our best hope. speaking directly from the first person position, has power and always will. thanks for you candor i join you in that attemp to keep it simple and humble. necia

But what is really being shown here is that we can be distracted from the iraq occupation and other shadowy dealing of the real government the few who hold ALL THE WEALTH, the stake holders of america. we do not ask questions of them, instead we go at each other not thinking that we are ALL being played distracted from the LARGER WORLDWIDE issues of accountabilty as the middle class [america's true asset and innovation] quietly disappears and becomes exstinct before our eyes. now am I saying that racial slurs should be forgiven, no i am not, i am saying that race issues have been used divide america and many other countries for centuries. This occurance in america was very strategic in its timing if you trace when it was re introduced into our national mythos look at how hitler came to gain so much power he didn't have to take it the people supported it because he gave them someone to blame for their demise instead of the failing government practices for their poverty and lack of upward mobility. sound familar? understand, this is a tool used to divide, subdue, direct, stimulate the masses.

Different mannerisms does not = to portraying being 1 type of person, and being another in another environment with contrary beliefs. If you're a Republican at work, don't come home frontin' like you are a Democrat. Those people that you are referring to, from what I get in your statement, that distance themselves or demean others aren't fronting. They are really trying to avoid those types of people. They are not being cool in their face and distancing or talking mess behind others backs. And if so, I'm talking about them too. 2 faced is 2 faced. The difference is, political correctness is attempt to make a comfortable climate for different religions, races, and beliefs to work. As grown folk we should know what is offensive and what is not. Not FRONT like you are too ignorant to know what is and what isn't. That dude can't go under oath and say he didn't know "nappy-headed hoes" wasn't offensive. Middle school kids know that. I do feel that this may be an attempt to distract from other issues in the media such as war, but that is a stretch. Especially because all the major channels have been covering it daily around the world and it is really getting killed in the audience's view. I saw a survey.

Howcome people on here got offended when I posed the question?[/quote:3beba86c57] There are two things you have to know in order to understand the "Whys" involved: 1. Racism is [/color:3beba86c57][/size:3beba86c57]systemic[/size:3beba86c57]. It is nothing more than a design to keep "The Minority" in place by depriving them/us of fiscal and personal power. Ever wondered why blacks didn't have the "Right" to vote until the 1960's? Or how that "Right" is STILL fluid (can be taken away with an act of congress). 2. History is written by the winner. Since white people won in America, that's the story we get. Slight skirmishes between them and the "savage natives," savvy/faulty land deals for next to nothing, and the best of all "FREE LABOR" from a land far away. For five centuries we've (minorities) received the short end of a rather long stick. When there is true equality, then we can call it both ways. Right now, we're playing catch-up.
