2 brand new tracks from funk legend Marva Whitney -- both pulled from her amazing recent sessions with Osaka Monaurail! As Marva herself has said, the group is as tight as James Brown's band in 1968 -- and the funky backings on both numbers rival the greatness that Whitney got back in the day on her legendary singles for King Records! The production is great too -- with just the right amount of grit to go for the best sort of "classic" funk style -- and Marva more than lives up to the setting with some of her most inspired vocals in years on "Soul Sisters". The flipside's an instrumental featuring the talents of Osaka Monaurail -- a groover with a tightly-stepping James Brown bassline -- topped by plenty of funky horns!
