Topic: When BET Stood for Black Entertainment
- Mar 21, 2007 06:18pm by DjShad
I was watching betj on cable and they are showing classic video soul, planet groove and carribian rhythms from back in the day. I was like there is hope for bet other than TVone(The new quality bet owned by Cathy Hughes of Radio One). It made me miss the days of Donnie Simpson Prince Dajour and The Mayor of Rap City. They were breaking more artists that yo mtv raps at the time. I first saw the luniz, King tee, Gheto Boyz on rap city. PLus i remember early bet when all they had was video soul, the gospel show sunday moring and classic black cinema from the 30's-80s like Willie Dynamite, every pam grier and fred williamson movie. I know today it sucks but lets think back they didn't have any programming
