wondering who I would vote for. was really wondering if yall were interested in creating a list of desires and concerns presented by the local hiphop community to each of these candidates and maybe a forum (if it could be scheduled) where they could address our list and we could ask then quesitons.
ok so that's what i was thinking. if nuthin else, our list could be emailed to each and a request for a response if received could be posted here.
ya feelin me?

hm. definitely something about youth activities... but i wouldn't know how to word it in any way that would really convey to them what i'd be talking about.
i think i'm going to vote for funkhouser, but this is solely based on brooks having a history working for kay barnes, who i wasn't pleased with. also because funkhouser is a hilarious name and because he looks like saruman. i don't actually care of either of them to any extent that i'd give them props... i voted for ellis in the primary.

I'd love to compose a list of questions for both of the candidates.

I do know that Mr. Alvin Brooks is the only one who showed up for the first debate and community Q&A in the poorest part of Jackson County. Even though they were both supposed to show. It basicall y turned into a brainstorming session at the end of it all, on possible changes that could be made. People there were complaining about how all of these "TIFs" go to the richest part of the county, where the current Mayor resides, and to big out of town companies. They were talking about how they have lived in KC for 20 plus years, on the same block with more and more vacant, dump lots every year. and streets with no gutters or sidewalks.
I also know that Mr. Funkhouser supports small businesses that consists of people employing more than 25 people, and he wants to outlaw street vendors. He is anti-panhandling. To me that means' "No Slanging CD's", his word were, that people don't come to the plaza to be begged for money.
anti-poor
So peace out James...No more of that horrible sax music either. Nor giving down payments for a cheeseburger. No gyro cart, hot dog carts are gone. Only the little sh*t that makes Kansas City Unique.
i sure would miss all that stuff. seriously. those things in a way rpresent an aspect of Hip Hop. The struggle, the grime and grit. act like you know.
I know who gets my vote!
Are they gonna jail all those people under the bridge?
Here is a link of interviews... obviously there are only two candidates left but you can listen to see what we might have missed out on. I was considering
Stan Glazer???

I live in Johnson County so I don't get to vote but ill say if you take away the pan handlers, james, and all the vendors you are taking away a large part of Westport culutre. I happen to do alot of business in Westport because the enviroment is unique and its alooot different than Johnson County. I hope all you Kansas City folk get out and vote. Local elections affect your way of life more so than national elections just some food for thought

mad props to KKFI and Tom Klammer for these interviews and especially for the ways it supports the local music scene.
thanks KKFI
btw, KKFI is doing one of its 2 major members fundraisings through this week, if you like how they support local artists through playing local music and having interviews of interest, give them what you can. I know all money is MONEY to them so yeah support given by locals equals locals giving support in return

I honestly don't think Funkhouser has a snowball's chance in Hell of winning the Mayoral seat, but I'm not sure Brooks is really a much better choice.
