I'm sorry, but i really couldnt leave this alone... To everyone who complains about not having all ages events, I understand your frustrations. Thats why i was so happy to see all of you at the FREE ALL AGES event yesterday. I'd name drop on all you who came out but there was just so many of you that there just isnt enough blank space on the web to list everyone... wait a minute... Ya know, i thought i'd been drinking too much lately. Now i remember correctly... NONE OF YOU CAME OUT TO THE FREE ALL AGES HIP HOP SHOW THAT YOU SO DESPERATELY WANTED TO HAVE. It's good to see that when your given what you ask for you take full advantage of it. VERY NICE KIDS, very nice.

DJ Yady, word. Thanx for spinning for the massive crowd...ahem. As just an old Hip Hop Loving artist who wants to see opportunties for my kid and my friends kids to actually see some Fresh & Original KC based Artists/ Emcees, DJ's & Beatmakers in a non alcohol/smoky bar environment I'm asking where else will you all come to??? Where if anywhere can we have ALL AGES events? I was saddened yesterday to feel like I had let down one of the most gifted emcees around, REACH. Not only was this man bringing 3 shows in three days, but he brought his boys "SIMPLE COMPLEXITY" from FL. (out of pocket I believe) & SOUL PROVIDERS together to share with all of us in the community and our children for a FREE ALL AGES FRESHHHH event. WHere did we go wrong? We put flyers out, emailed, myspaced from various sites and the hhakc homesite, invited all the kids we teach at the HIP HOP ACADEMY, invited my friends with kids as well as other friends.....? We've had the CMCAC Theatre space at 3109 Troost Ave. K.C. MO. for almost 2 years and have grown the Hip Hop Academy up and out of this historic site. I know it can be funky in there, it needs a new roof, needs some more tlc and can be cold in the Winter, but I thought those of us who missed the original VIDEO premiere at Record Bar, might take an hour or two out Saturday to show support for one of our own making big moves Nationally & Internationally, and come to a non conventional spot on the Eastside. Please voice your honest thoughts on this.... I'd like to share HIP HOP CULTURE with the youth and show them other aspects besides just the commercial Bling/Gangsta stuff that they can see any hour any day on tv, and or hear on the radio, see in the Rap Fashion / Music mags. feel free to post up about this....it's got me vexed! J

Where was the concert at? I'm not underage but shit if it was during a Saturday I can understand why such a low turnout. Most young people work on Saturdays and the month of March belongs to basketball for me.

everything said above is about " where you wanted to be" so understand artists can't keep having sympathy for underage heads and listening to that poor me cuz I aint 21 ish if they give you what you said you wanted and then you want something else. yo bad second thought, for those who come to this board, post, hang out and chat, but only do that ON THE FRONT PAGE OF THIS SITE BEFORE YOU HIT "MESSAGE BOARD" TAKE A LOOK AT THE CALENDAR OF EVENTS. There's lots more to this site than COMMUNITY CHATTER! granted chatting with each other is fun entertaining and all but hey THERE IS A LOT MORE ON THIS SITE. Shit that can make you ponder, shit that could just that piece of info you need to finish you project or yo marketing plan for its release. if you only going one spot hint hint YO BAD! if you build it they will come, isn't the same thing as " they will utilize it to the fullest" dont' sleep oh and while I am on a roll 🙄 , let me just say to ALL OF YOU who come here and peak in on our interaction, the real FUN starts when you commit (register to the damn site join in, build somethin) Until then, you not really being 'A PART OF NUTHIN" you just taking and NOT contributing. There's a law somewhere by somebody that say as YOU GIVE, so YOU RECEIVE 💡 nuthing = nuthing peace , stay up erbody nrg

Don't let it get you down Jeremy. Just keep doing what you're doing and know that if anything, you're making an effort to give KC's young people some more positive outlets where they can hopefully take something meaningful away from it all. Turnouts to shows is something that I should probably not get into right before work..... 👿

I (we) appreciate everyone who did come out. Thanks to T-Blaze, Soul Server fam, Yady, Tami T., Miles, Deep Thinkers, Simple Complexity and anyone who I might've missed. It's unfortunate, but we're going to give it a go again here very soon. The kids are very important to both Jeremy and myself so while it's frustrating we will continue to provide opportunities for them. To anyone who would've liked to, but couldn't make it out for whatever reason...We understand and appreciate you anyway. Love ya'll.

Respect due to all of you! I know how busy we all are and I've missed plenty of amazing shows, friends shows, cd releases ad nausium, basically I'm just hoping to find new ways of doing things collaboratively and reaching new audiences. I live in Northeast now and there are so many people here who would love to check out some Live HIP HOP, maybe some late Spring summer street / Park Jams could start up!!! Anyone? The HHA now has a sound system... If anyone wants to rock a set for the youth get back at us with your ideas. STAY UP! J

who should they be looking at. it ain't like they can be all things to all people and be in all places. how about being eyes and ears for them? how about you and the other young heads turn them on to some folk? Name some names, where to find them, you know don't make it a secret. help a situation out already gees yall know how to network, how to get the message across with enough info action can follow, how bout it?

hey, man i been trying, but it's harder than you might imagine. they've become so attached to the mainstream stuff that when they hear something different, they don't know how to react, so they just don't like it, know what i'm saying? like, even local stuff. i'd imagin that just the thrill of living in the same city with someone as talented as say joe good would make you want to listen to it, but i guess not.

hey machine, that's a whole nuther issue. I thought you were talking about just talented young artists we should be in the know about and who are ready to get on showcases and rock the crowd I ain't talking about politics, this is hiphop, this ain't ish. I dont' care bout that. I'm about hiphop culture as a whole. so if they wanna argue, I aint' interested nobody got nuthin to prove in kansas city cross no lines or styles. ain't nobody famous although they might be imfamous. long as that is the case WE NEED TO BUILD A FOUNDATION FOR HIPHOP IN THIS CITY THAT CAN SUPPORT THE WHOLE THING. everything else is politics and not about entertaining. fact the public dont' give a shit about our squabbles anyway, they pay to be entertained, get their party on and relax. now, do you know some folk mature enough to fore go politics, and rock the house with whoever is getting they ass an opportunity to be heard and hone their skills? that's who I wanna put on a showcase in may for CELEBRATE HIPHOP WEEK. IF YOU DO TELL THEM TO GET AT ME [email protected] WITH SOME RESPECT AND ITS ON PERIOD. OTHERWISE, THEY AIN'T READY IF THEY GOT SOMETHING TO PROVE ABOUT THIS STYLE VS THAT STYLE. peace nrg

For real.... It's got to a point where I'm was just like "Freak It!" I'm tired of explaining the difference between hip hop and rap to those who think other wise.... Just let the Rap cats do their thing..... While us "Hip-Hopers" do our thing..... That whole debate irritates me now...... If you like crime and materialism, thats what you'll listen to....if you like art, thats what you listen to.... The way I see it now is that hip hop isn't defined by a beat and rhymes....but more of what your message in the end is..... Thats why I see no difference between Hiphop and Rock or R&B and Folk for that matter..... ----------------------- I JUST REALIZED THAT THAT WAS TOTALLY OFF SUBJECT ----------------------- Yo Necia....when is the next celebrate hip hop week?

i don't know who really has a street team put together like this NRG.. that's why i asked.. there is alot more to promoting a show than posting on this board and leaving a stack of flyers in Streetside music.... we all agree on that.... and promoting isn't easy... it was always tough to find highschool and college kids that would help promote. But that seems to be the key...i think.. i don't really know anymore.. haha

instead of crying because kids don't want to listen to this style of "hip-hop" which they don't "appreciate"... why don't you try building ties with someone they would listen to... *goes back to playing "crime and materialism" mix
  23. Mar 14, 2007 09:00pm by DR.T - nuts .. haha Location: KCMO
By saying Crime and materialism I wasn't pointing the finger a trap or nothing....I was just saying, people listen to what ever they like or can relate to ..... for instance ganstas listen to music thats has to do with what gasngstas do on a daily basis... people that are money oriented listen to money oriented lyrics..... For instance me..I love listening to "off the wall"/"I just understood what he meant" 2 minutes from now" lyrics.....Therefore I listened to MF Doom. You see? people hear what they want to hear......

i can dig that, i've noticed a lot of ppl on this board do is generalize those who don't share their opinion on music... i'm not speaking on you, and i don't pay attn enough to be able to recite who exactly does it, but i notice it happening in almost every serious discussion that takes place... that is why i've always felt the need to respond in a certain manner... fat tone is probably my fav. artist from KC, and i feel we don't have much in common, and would even go as far as to say that alot of the stuff he said was ignorant. but i enjoy the music. and right after tone, i'd go with miles. i don't feel that anyone is one-dimensional, and it seems like a lot of ppl on here do. i like to dress, get money, smoke, and be hood, lol. i am drawn to music involving that, but gym class heroes has the most played song on my iTunes. as likely as i am to play something i would relate to, i am to play dean martin or johnny cash... i know drug dealers and gangsters who would most ppl would be scared to be around and they listen to ready for the world and dance around their cribs... basically i said all that to say that you can't write these kids off. more than likely they just haven't found a "hip-hop" artist that interested them enough to have them venture off into that style of music...
