"Suge Knight, head of rap label Death Row Records -- once home to Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre -- has announced that he's planning to shut down the company, saying, "We shouldn't be constantly feeding negative energy to these kids. You can get rich with the devil's money, but you can only be happy with God's money."

GOD/JAH/THE UNIVERSE.. doesn't need our money that's all about small minded Men and their (our) mammonistic ways that's bringing us all closer to a more screwed up natural environment, global culture of plenty that doesn't know how to distribute the bounty to those in need, even with our our tricknology and automated ways...greed is running things on all levels still! Whether it be privatizing our natural resources, food production, housing, medicine, music etc... I swear! The things we do for money! As far as Jesus goes, I'm presuming if he was alive he wouldn't be too impressed with all these money worshipping sickos using his name to legitimize their propoganda, fanatacism, Racism, and church building! Don't get me started ...Suge Knight can eat a @#%* sandwich! I'm so sick of Murdering, Killing, Raping, Homophobia, Sexism... in the name of Hip Hop Art!!! Where's all the conscious Artists???? Hip Hop artists / Rappers making money on sex & violence like the rest of American sick culture. I'm getting off my soapbox and putting some good uplifting Reaggae on the stereo! Dang, let the man rest I know he is kinda doing this because they had to sell off the back catalog to get out of debt but maybe he is trying to come to peace with his past. I'm not saying he is the greatest man in the world, i know about some stories and people who have caught the infamous beatdowns but you gotta respect his hustle in the early 90's. You can't front on the chronic, dogg food, murder was the case, above the rim, A death row christmas and all eyez on me.

jesus isn't alive. he died like 2000 years ago on a wooden cross made from a post tree. the reason human beings have so much control over the earth, is because we are a naturally predatorial animal that became a very intelligent creature through the use of technology and the ability to destroy our surroundings to use them as resources. our obsession with violence comes from the barbaric instinct we all possess as hunters. i don't really think the culture today is any sicker than it was before. we have always been driven by the thirst for destruction. you are a barbaric creature. well, unless you believe there is an invisible man in the sky who loves you, yet pushes you through a life full of torture and torment, never shows "His" face, and depends on moronic neanderthal humans to write "His" word in the form of a book, which was written completely releative to the time it was written in. thousands of years ago. that's the difference between the tiger and the house cat. the house cat has been domesticated and taught to be loving and to supress the instincts it naturally possessed millenia ago. which one can survive in the wild? suge knight was a beast, who was true to his blood lust for what he felt would be the answer to his yearning for happiness-- wealth & power. now his new found faith in yeshua is his admittance to powerlessness over his own life, of course, after realizing that greed, power, and wealth didn't plug the hole inside. okay great. he found jesus. i would hope the people whom subscribe to the teachings of christ would not hold his foul, and not at all surprising, actions as a man of his stature over his head. isn't that a teaching of christ? forgiveness? happiness isn't a destination, or a state of mind. it's being able to hold power over all the problems you will inevitably face in life. find enlightenment. suge wasn't responsible, he just facilitated what was already rampantly stomping through the spirits of humankind.

Mac you're either hilariously cynical or a saddenly realistic voyuer of the world. Depending on who you're talking to. An observation. I won't be the judge. As far as Suge, every man has to come to grips w/ his past eventually. Better late than never. I think it's funny how people mention that they've come to 'find God'. Where did he go?

I always wonder how the mere mention of organized religion (irrespective of faith) in this forum spirals into a barrage of generalizations and hyperbolic commentary on anyone who ascribes to religiosity. Don't believe in God? That's your bag. You're entitled, but it's quite a bit insensitive to suggest that anyone who does is wearing rose-colored glasses and has no real understanding of life and how the world works. It's like, you gotta be an unenlightened tree-hugging fairy to believe that God exists. All good... I'm sure anyone who belongs to a particular faith can deal with the sophmoric insults to their way of life, but I just find it fascinating that atheists, freethinkers, agnostics (and the like) never find themselves in the crosshairs. I thought religious folk were intolerant?

i disagree. i think that is a ridiculous statement. the word 'extremist' is about as broad, and vague of a word as 'terrorist'. what is an extremist? someone who passionately fights for their beliefs? someone who will unload a firearm at a group of children in the name of god? what is a terrorist? a person fighting for their religious beliefs? a person who wakes up every day wanting to kill americans? freedom haters? how about the united states army who is protected by the "#1 country" which is protected by ::drum roll:: GOD! religion deeply divides the world. breaks civilizations into small, foreign sects that don't understand eachother, fear eachother, and eventually attack eachother with god's word as the justification. -palestine and isreal -the crusades -the george w. bush crusades against the middle east -catholic priests suppressing natural sexual desires and eventually molesting boys -the disgusting plague of anti-homosexuality, and the hatred and violence it produces because "god doesn't tolerate it." -september 11th -centuries of entire races of people being enslaved by superior races etc. etc. etc. you can also do things like, in a couple of steps, link just about every genocide and war to religion. martin luther? adolf hitler and the holocaust? fuck, anti-semitism period. a lot of slavery. etc. [b:1728997646]of course not every religious person in the world is a psychotic destructo. i consider spiritual enlightment to be slightly different. [/b:1728997646] but i consider any such basis of a judgement, act of hatred, violence, or even intolerance-- fuck it, or anything of the sort that relates to "GOD," to be absolutely parochial, and unacceptable. if the world didn't have such a feeling of entitlement, or such a stubborn sense of certainty when it comes to who the universe revolves around, and could accept the idea that humans are unimportant, have a very limited amount of knowledge in terms of the universe, how it works, why it works and what makes it work; religion wouldn't exist. humans created it because humans want an answer. religion will absolutely be the cause of the self-destruction of our entire planet. not spirituality. RELIGION.

i've always thought that the problem lay not in organized religion, or any other affiliation, but in the fanatics of that organization, know what i'm saying? it's like, you can believe what you want, listen to whatever, be attracted to whatever sex, but don't push it on other people. that's the real problem, if you ask me. nobody wants to be told they can't believe what they want. that's the ish that leads to wars, embargoes, sanctions, etc. organized religion just happens to produce an alarming number of these fanatics. it might even be different if you could talk them down, but you can't, because no matter how far you push them into the realm of critical thinking, for them, it will always come down to one important thing it's a matter of faith. so there. end of story. and that somehow gives them more of a right to live than other people of other faiths, and that's fucked up, know what i'm saying?

[quote:acf5c866c0="maclethal"]uh. do you know how much of the world's misery exist because of religion?[/quote:acf5c866c0] Blame the people that ascribe to religion, not religion itself. Placing mankind at the center of the universe has also been EXTREMELY destructive over time, but that's a different discussion. Ultimately what I'm saying here is that everyone is entitled to whatever beliefs they hold and we should be more tolerant regardless of whether or not we agree. But that's just my 2. What's for lunch?
