I met this cat who is going through the whole payola system with Clear Channel. Shit's crazy. He paid 10g's up front for 6 months of rotation in LA. After the six months was up some company directors hit him up like, where are you going with this album? Do you have a video for the lead single? We'll give you a national test then run your track where it fits best for 30g's. The question [color=yellow:9fc3706d3a]where are you going with this album?[/color:9fc3706d3a] Is insane. Basically they're tellin you if you got the cheese you can steer the direction of you success. Besides that I went to some local shows this week (all ages) Grayskul, Common Market, Absynnian Creole and Blue Scholars. Seattles got way more fire than I thought.

A million dollars will buy a hit record, but how many people have that kind of cash. Most get it all fronted by people that have resources and writeoffs that could leave the artist owing money while the investors (major labels) still made profit. It goes back a long way, an episode of WKRP In Cincinnatti covered the topic quite some time ago. It's done nothing, but get worse since then.
