i was hoping little miss sunshine would win more things. but i guess everyone wanted scorsese to win something after all these years. which is fine, the departed was pretty good.
i'm just gonna sit here and be angry about marie antoinette winning anything at all. curse of the golden flower should have won for costume design, but otherwise i'm just mad because that movie celebrates evil and sofia coppola makes awful movies... now i just know she's an awful person too. if i made a movie about marie antoinette, it'd just be her getting her head chopped off repeatedly for an hour and a half.

The Departed was not that good. Scorcese's catalogue deserves at least one Oscar, but doesn't it seem like this was the wrong movie for it? I feel like it was more about who the director was rather than the movie he made.
I want to check out the West Bank Story now.

Did anyone see the looks on the faces of all the other best supporting actress nominees when they got word that Jennifer Hudson won? It was classic...knowing that some American Idol spawn steps up and takes the award instead of gals who've been putting in SOOO much more work over the years. What a slap in the face, but still pretty funny. I would also like to note that Tom Cruise is a douche. That is all.

She deserved it. Oscars are based on individual performances so unfortunately their hours on the job in the past didn't really play a role (no pun intended).

yeah i think that's definitely why he won... the departed was a good movie no doubt, but little miss sunshine is the best movie of the year in my opinion. first movie i've seen in a long time that immediately after/during seeing it i had already decided it was among my all time favorites.

i think whoever runs american idol has their hands in the awards and everything... there's no other reason kelly clarkson should have 2 grammies.
awards shows are like that though. things don't win because they're good.
