Last night was TREMENDOUS! Simple Complexity gets busy. And Reach, Ataxic, Skeme, and the Servers did their thangs. But to all of y'all that complain there aren't enough Hip-Hop events on Fridays and Saturdays, last night's attendance is why people don't want to book Hip-Hop for weekend gigs in KC. This is a business y'all (a shady one, but a business none the less.)
If we (KC Hip-Hop community) won't support our own... then we give up the right to complain about things not going the way we want. You want more "concious" Hip-Hop on 103? Call, bug, boycott, and stick to your guns. Don't spend with their sponsors. They (KPRS) can't make advertising money if people aren't spending with their sponsors. And ad money is the only LEGAL money radio stations can earn.
KC, we need to wake up before we lose another generation to what the mainstream is dictating to us. You know the saying "Garbage in. Garbage out." It's too true. What are you putting in?

so glad to hear it was wonderful. I knew it would be. no excuses from me fellas. had another committment. one last night and one today. HIPHOP 101 was a total success. 7 people came, all ages were represented, several different cultures, and the thing they all had in common was hiphop touched them and they wanted to know more.
some of them will be with me at the nut tomorrow night and some will be with me at the record bar next friday. one of the age 10 wants to be a BGirl so I am hooking her up with the academy and cat. as well as telling delinda about her.
ALL of them, I was the oldest by 1 year, were openly discussing hiphop, the way its presented in the media ( speaking of which, did any of you see the amazing artical Jenee wrote "hiphop is alive and well" ) concerns they had about it, being introduced to it by friends, not knowing how to participate or get involved and most important to me, that they all were feeling the beat of the music but having a harder time hearing the word.
I am duly encourage that the hiphop101 class fulfills a need within the larger community and will continue to present it every semester .
