[color=red:c8e20dd6e1][b:c8e20dd6e1]making a podcast:[/b:c8e20dd6e1]
Simply record an mp3. Then using certain code or websites it can turn into a podcast.... a file read by podcast catchers (Itunes can work as one) and downloads them as soon as they are posted.
[b:c8e20dd6e1]or[/b:c8e20dd6e1]
[b:c8e20dd6e1]subscribing to a podcast:[/b:c8e20dd6e1]
IN other words, when you are subscribed to a podcast, it downloads to your computer as soon as it is available. Then you can listen to it on your computer or transfer it to your portable device and listen. then keep it or throw it away.[/color:c8e20dd6e1]
You can start with this one http://milesbonny.libsyn.com/rss
add that in itunes. In Itunes go to "advanced" then "subscribe to podcast"
then (as its set up on my itunes) everytime I open itunes and my inernet is connected, it downloads the latest episodes available for all podcasts I'm subscribed to.

cool, i hear ya ace,. thx
BUT i'M CURIOUS... DOES NO-ONE CARE ABOUT PODCASTING? OR DO YOU JUST NOT CARE ABOUT THIS POST. BE HONEST. Cause this podcasting thing is a positive step.. its like our own personal radio stations.. can do big things for indie artists. I'm curious if yall dont care or if you already know. I know Skeme and Kiz work with it, and Ace.. but what about everyone else?

I've downloaded a couple of podcasts before. I think they're cool, but just never have time to fool with em...I would get some for my ipod, but it's formatted to my macbook and I don't have wireless internet at home (so I can't hook my ipod up to the pc). for this reason I skip most podcast posts...
I'll probably check your pod out and see whats up.

[b:15a341d490]Yo man!! Why don't you poll that question cause I've been curious myslef. I tried to do a poll, but it's not working.
I personally think we should have like a "EDUCATIONAL NIGHT" at HHW or another spot to really portray the seriousness of podcasting. Ya feel me?? Podcasting 101. [/b:15a341d490]

Podcasting 101 sounds like a dope idea. I've never done it, but I've always been interested. I've just never been interested enough in any one artist - or any radio station to want thier casts.

valid point. That is a problem and a case where it doesnt make sense... cause it cant work. That is why subscribing is essential.. it downloads automatically. Its like a blog that come to you, so you don't have to fish for it everyday. Thanks for stating your position Tilla. Clarity of thought is beautiful.

Well, that's where the beauty of variety comes in. With the podcast I am promoting, ALMOST ANY artist that submits music will get play. I can't bow down to some mess, but The Lyricist Hour is all about different styles worldwide.
You must not have checked it out. Just in case.. here's a link..

NY TIMES FRONT PAGE (DAILY NEWS)
STONES THROW PODCAST
AND PERSONALLY, I LOVE .. THIS AMERICAN LIFE .. an NPR show about people's lives. INteresting situations etc. Perfect for long trips to lawrence.

Podcasts are great, especially after you charge your iPod and find that you have new music while on the way to work without even trying to get it.

I don't subscribe to podcasts for the same reason I haven't heard a vast majority of youse guys music. In tha sticks, it's all dial-up.
I can download songs, but anything too big and it's a given that I'm gonna get booted or something bad is going to happen.

Yeah Dial up will make it hard to download podcast which normally range in the 20 to 60 Meg range. I love podcasting, obviously as one of the hosts of the Lyricist Hour, it is just like Miles said, it is basically a personal Radio Station. It could be for the world, or just for you crew to download without having to leave the crib. It eliminates the costs of pressing a bunch of Cd's that you have to try to re-coop funds for. It is FREE, it only costs you your time. I can afford that know what I mean.
Podcasts I listen to:
LH of course
Stonesthrow
904kus radio (local jacksonville hip hop)
Miles Podcasts like HH&HW.
