Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR) is a composer, performer, violinist and bandleader who seamlessly blends funk, rock, hip-hop and classical music into a new sonic vision of music. His soul-inspiring pieces range from orchestral scores to energetic chamber works to rock songs and electronica. DBR, along with his string quartet, will perform works from his Civil Rights Reader program — a collection of DBR’s string quartets exploring iconic figures of the civil rights era: Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr., Adam Clayton Powell Jr. and Maya Angelou. Critics from both the classical and popular music fields rave about this classical-urban ambassador for the next generation. DBR is a musical revolutionary for the 21st century.

DBR's show was an experience and a good one at that.
The music was very much more on the classical side, but stuck to 4/4 tempo and got a little funkier than classical normally would.
A key element I picked up on through the whole show was how he was taking simple chord progressions and building on them, milking them for all they are worth without sounding repetitive.
In all honesty I was much more impressed by the string quartette than the DJ. An actual drummer or an orchestral percussion section would probably sound better.
Interesting crowd as well.....teenagers in t-shirts to seniors in suits.
DBR's show was one of the most mind opening shows I've attended which is what made it an experience.
