we initially had AntiCrew and Big Sike Steez scheduled as
the main attraction.
they were to rock downstairs as Bear's party went down
upstairs.
Bear's party has now officially taken over the whole building for the night.
AntiCrew will still perform their set as scheduled along with a LONG list
of additional local acts that many of you have seen perform there over
the last two years.
Barbaric Merits will wreck shop upstairs while the performances go on
downstairs.

Yo, Bear had talked to me about doing some tracks. I'm totally hype for it, really only need time for two songs and I'll be happy.
It would help me so much, though, if I could have some idea of when I'm going to be on. Will there be an actual schedule made for this, or will it be a kind of free-for-all? Just curious. I don't need to know now, but sometime before Sunday would be FRESH!!! I'd really appreciate it.
I work (like at my job) a lot. And, like, within an hour bracket would be sick. I might be there until shortly before I'd be on. You understand.

i can speak for broker in saying that this night .. this week.. will be under bear's control. Its not our responsibility etc. So I assume you need to talk with Bear about that.

yeah like the bear picture above indicates, it was an all out bash in honor of "the Bear" and he was celebrating in due style.
overseeing all the talent, heads, bar and drink dispensing with unusual flair. plus, receiving props every 15 minutes at the end of each set from some of KC's best.
there was a constant chant of " Happy Birthday Bear" in some form or other. My personal favor was "when I say happy birthday, you say BEAR" and believe me that went over like gang busters. I had in my usual ear plugs and I heard it as a deafening Sound. Tonight Hiphop loved Bear. and not without reason.
Bear in his own way has fought for local hiphop at the peanut for months now. knowing who is full of it and who has good intentions, bear is the man usually at the door asking for I D and bear is the man behind those wings (and other things) that come from behind those swinging doors.
In fact if we spill it 4 real, bear is working between several peanuts commuting to ensure it stays peanut style. that said tonight was all about the BEAR.
the line up was great, from Ces Cru to Anti-Crew presenting tracks from their new release da's wassup.
The amazing things of the night were that Ces Cru, Anti-Crew, Soul Servers, Negro Scoe, and Dutch Newman held the shit tight all night so did the DJ's present from the resident DJ's beatbroker and ataxic to the Crew dj's sike and yady.
it really was pandemonium (sp?) I had some makers and shiner please excuse me my mind is pickled.
but I know if I don't report on this now, I may not be able to in the morning. so bare (no pun) with me
back to the sleepers of the night specifically Qan (alum of the hiphop disciples) cohort of Anti Crew and last man of the night Dutch Newman.
true hiphop is alive and well in KC thanks to the talent and love being given in the form of emceeing and the production behind it. also amazing
Dutch newman came up to the mic in the middle of folks leaving, last call, and general chaos but he grabbed it back from all of that to rock the house. first the production behind him was beyond on point. its musicality was undeniable then his stuccato rhyme style cinched it. the crowd was headed in another direction til he happened.
props to dutch
PL on the mic saying ladies and gentlemen you have just witnessed REAL HIPHOP and saying it til folks got it, was another high point tonight. and more important right to the point that many who dance to hiphop now have no clue about the history or matrix that are at the foundation of this culture. thanks for saying what needed to beg said for those that don't know. big up to lou rip for putting an explaination mark to it.
this occurred after a young man (dont' know his name) had been speaking ill of someones performance earlier. Shadow made reference to this during his performance. just before dutch went on real hiphop enter the building in the form of a battle between the naysayer and shadow. Yady on the mic told the story by saying the youngman must be a foreigner cuz he was the only one present who didn't know what was about to happen. erbody paused to look at someone close to acknowledge yady had spoken truth and then the bloodletting began..
Yady had called 106th and park rules ( no cursing) but foreigner must have missed that cuz the first word out of his mouf was mother**** and it could be heard from then on at the beginning of each sentence Imo skip to the place where foreigner doesn't realize that its over cuz shadow says I'm gonna battle myself for you and launches into an amazing dissing of himself for foreigner. to which the crowd is on its feet and yeah you guessed it dude can back in with a chorus to battle the man who had battle himself for him and it was over.
I had been missing church ( what I call hiphop and hot wings) for a couple weeks now for no reason worth telling here, but fate saw to it that I made it tonight so all this writing is to honor FATE who brought me to witness this amazing moment on sunday night in kansas city mo. This moment when the Hiphop community was showing love by bringing some of its finest, old and new to pay homage to a major supporter of hiphop culture BEAR. thank you BEAR and happy birthday man.
off to walk (my faithful canine) the beasley man now
