But the concept I had would just to have everyone one each individual track, Kinda like some fantasy football type ish y'know? Like say have... I don't....like one track be Approach and Godemis on a track produced by Miles Bonny and have like Mythik on the scratches.... And have another track be like Duece Fontane with Vertigone on like an Atilla beat..... y'know just a completely random "chocolate box" assortment of KC artist..... I think if everyone just contributed on one track it could get done REAL QUICK.... I'm saying since every artist in KC pretty much knows everyone else y'know....

My idea would be to work with material we already have, and/or have a couple of producers head up the project and get a capellas from whomever wants to submit them for remixing along with instrumentals from local producers that are strong enough to stand without an MC on em and just make acontinuousmix <hee hee, anyway, I personally have rare and unreleased tracks by Ces and freestyles and live performances by Ces and Vertigone and Lucid, let me get my house back in order and we will all further get into this if thats what people wanna do, NOT trying to hog this thing, Im down for anyones suggestions/help/input whatever, I just wont be fully available til say the end of February. all someone has to do is complie songs...make sure the sound quality is above aveage if not perfect... someone will have to take charge and pay for the pressing.. that person will re-coop his/her money first and then the rest of the money is split however agreed upon. you could do 15 - 20 tracks on the disc and if anyone is left off of this one..but out another one in a couple month with a fresh 15 - 20 tracks. make sure all the tracks are radio edited so they can be played where ever whenever and make sure each track is credited correctly. really someone would just have to spearhead a project like this for it to really get done. Too many cooks in the kitchen really doesn't make the meal taste any better.. geez i can't believe i wrote that.. haha what is it about message board that brings out the cheesy cliches in people?

$.02 A project like this has to be somebody's baby. Their vision. It has to be, for that person to invest the time and deal with the scheduling hassles they're going to experience. The person that would assemble this is going to need to work REALLY hard to make it come out well. When the one that is to oversee the project didn't have the initial vision behind it, how much will they be willing to dedicate? The best bet might be talking to producers or promoters and see if anybody has wanted to do this, and just offer your help to see it through and make it happen. I think alot of people will be willing to contribute to a scene encompassing project. But they'll only invest as much as the overseer, the one in charge has to inspire these artists to put in quality effort. If possible, you need one lab for recording and mixing, so the sound is at least consistent. It's great for discs like this to come out. I haven't seen one yet, though, that wasn't somebody in particular's album or mixtape, simply having a bunch of cats from the scene on it. Good luck... Nah'meeeen??

Nah'meeeen??[/quote:a476fb85d2] I nah what you meeeeen, Obviously you should be in on this too, I am DEFINITELY down to participate, but you just siked me out of heading it up, 1. I dont have the means to record to the standard that we would want it, so if I were to take the lead on this, everyone would need to find their own place to record their songs, unless someones down to DONATE time and effort and a recording booth. I would only be the connector arranger, an executive producer so to speak, I envision this to be "all about the home grown" everyone making an equal effort. Also, at DISKFAKTORY its only like 300.00 bucks for 100 copies 2 panel cover art, with disc art and a backcover. If we alll chipped in equally that is mad cheap, the money made would be to just keep re issuing it as demand dictates, no one would profit, we would do it for the LOVE. We could nominate a trustworthy person to handle that, the money that is,and the re releasing of the project as needed. Im down with that, I am also down with someone else taking the reigns if they feel they would better serve the purpose or have a better idea as to the way this should all work/be structured. until then we can roll as is and see where this goes. Anyone have any input ?

This idea reminds me when I moved here and was asking everyone why there wasn't a kind of "supergroup" with the best djs/turntablists, mc's, and producers....which seemed like a pretty simple idea to take all the kc allstars, throw them in the studio and on stage and BAM. After mentioning this to a few people, I was quickly brought down to reality with all the reasons why this hasn't happened or wouldn't work: Scheduling, Lack of professionalism and willingness to work, Egos, etc. Which I think would be problems for the mixtape idea or any other large collaborative effort. I think for this thing to work, the points people have made that I very much agree with are: 1. This is not about making money. Maybe even not worry about getting it pressed and just make good cd-r copies and digital downloads. 2. Set well known expectations for each person that are easily attainable. For example everyone contributing ONE maybe two songs. Nobody is too busy to make 1 beat or spit over 1 song. 3. deadlines, deadlines, hmm, maybe more deadlines. 4. hold people accountable. 5. just be organized with a written plan....that's what i hate the most when someone tells me about all their great ideas but hasn't even put enough thought into laying out a business plan(in music or my business). I enjoying hearing everyone's ideas, and would love to see projects like these actually take off. I'm in: Beats, Cuts, Recording. DUBLOW.....over and out.

To re state some important points that Necia brought up, we will need to be considering the cover art at some point, so lets keep that in mind. T......Definitely keep the list of interested people, somewhere in the real world in addition to here on the board. Most of all we need to stay realistic about this project, there is no deadline, no pressure should be involved, passion should play a big part, but I dont want anyone over stressing about this, Hip Hop is also supposed to be fun so lets keep it loose and use our talents and strengths to our advantage, put our aces in their places so to speak, THIS CAN BE DONE. As far as quality control, I think there is a grey area there, whats art to some is garbage to others, a good example is , some people think my stuff is dope, some think its wack, we should all (those involved) put each submission to a vote, democracy !! now thats Hip Hop (had to say it) anyway.......let me know what you good people are thinking, and send any tracks to [email protected]. we should also (at some point in the next couple o months) all have a meeting at a localized place that we can all agree on, so we can discuss this in the real world. Peace-

I think if you figure out the technicalities, people will contribute to the project. If you have the people and no game plan it might end up looking a little like a Chief's offensive line. [quote:4d9ea49fe3="dublow"]This idea reminds me when I moved here and was asking everyone why there wasn't a kind of "supergroup" with the best djs/turntablists, mc's, and producers....which seemed like a pretty simple idea to take all the kc allstars, throw them in the studio and on stage and BAM. Sixer is in as an MC. I could make a beat if need be, but I think I bring more to the table if I get a beat elsewhere and dropped my 48 bars like I were four cards short, or collaborated with another MC. But yeah, I don't do shit yet, so I believe I can achieve any KC Mix-Tape Mission sent my way.

I gotta be honest T...your best be is to start with what we have so far, once we've got something going and it's coming along, more artists will be interested. There aren't enough people involved in the scene posting at this site to make it worthwhile for you to keep at it this way. I love your passion about it, but I'm just being realistic. If it's sounding hot, people will be stupid to not jump on it, but the problem is there's been too many good ideas that have never become reality...so you're not gonna get anyone excited about it until the wheels go in motion
