A) Congratulations Larry Johnson.
B) Congratulations Quinn Gray, however, learn to look at the play clock.
C) The play-by-play guy is probably the most annoying I've ever heard.

Is the season rushing carries a record you want?
- Dec 31, 2006 10:51pm by sixer
I bet you T.O., Keyshawn, Chad Johnson or Randy Moss would love to own it.

not at all a Chiefs fan, and didn't see the game since we didn't get it out here. but i'm checking ESPn and i just caught the highlights.
what about the pass Huard threw to Kennison? cold off the bench throws one of the best 3 balls i've ever seen in my life.

For his image, yes.
He wants to be remembered as a gritty tough runningback.
Nothing speaks toughness like that record.
Though the previous record holder made an early exit from the NFL due to nagging injuries over his last several seasons... Um so... Maybe it's not such a great thing.

Huard should be starting.
Green's time is up. Age has caught up to him.
The Chiefs need to play Pick 3 tonight.
An amazing turn of events got them into the post-season.
Last year we only needed Detroit to beat Pittsburgh and that didn't happen. Yesterday we saw a chain reaction. New England beats Tennessee, Pittsburgh defeats Cincy in a thriller, we hand it to the Jags and Joe Nedney (the guy who kicked the field goal that kept us out of the playoffs a few years ago) redeems himself.
Hello post-season!!!
They actually match up VERY VERY well with Indianapolis.
They can't stop the run for squat and who do we have in the backfield?
The league's 2nd best Runningback.
Oh and the guy who's always been a thorn in Peyton's side...Ty Law.
GIDDY UP!!!

i think larry johnson is better than ladainian tomlinson. compare their numbers, then consider the o-lines.
last night i had a party at my house and decided it was a chiefs party, not a new year's party.
p.s. rip darrent williams.

Tomlinson has proven that he's the better back this season.
Johnson isn't as valuable as a pass-catcher.
He's not as prolific a scorer either.
Even when considering the offensive lineplay Tomlinson's the better back.
Ultimately that's no knock on Johnson. LT's just that good.
That guy was a beast for years running behind mediocre offensive lines.
- Jan 2, 2007 12:08am by maclethal
I think Tomlinson was a better back this year than LJ. But just this season. He really showed his ass this year, man.
I think Ty Law is someone who belongs in the "aged" category, so I am not sure of how much of a threat he will be against Peyton.
I absolutely agree that Huard should be starting and kept in the game even during slow moments.
- Jan 2, 2007 08:14am by phism
i guess i haven't actually watched much of lt2. they're hard to compare because they're completely different styles... lt2's more of a barry sanders slash marcus allen type... whereas lj's more of a... i don't know, he's kind of hard to categorize. anyway.
i was excited when we signed ty law but i don't know how i feel about him now. he tries too hard to get interceptions and greg wesley's not good enough to cover for him.

He's certainly not the DB he once was, but I still think Peyton will have him in the back of his mind. Psychologically I think he could still have an edge on Manning.

I'd love to see that, but unfortunately I think making the switch at this point would be a distraction. Herm should've been riding with Huard all along.
I'm not sure how he can convince Chiefs fans that he wants to play ball control offense when the QB he's a loyalist to turns the ball over as much as he does.

Johnson's a faster version of Eddie George.
Tomlinson can kill you in a number of ways.
Johnson could potentially be as good a pass-catcher if he'd just focus!!!
He drops way too many flares/screens...

I honestly think Law's still a good cover Corner...
He just doesn't have Safety help and with no interior pass rush he has to cover receivers longer.
He's a gambler and sometimes that will pay off, but then again sometimes it won't. I think he's been a good addition to the secondary. Not the Ty Law of a few years ago, but still a competent starter who will make the big play...
It'd be nice to see him play with the two young guys Pollard and Page to back him up.
- Jan 2, 2007 11:21pm by phism
actually, i kind of take back what i said because it's impossible to judge the talent of our secondary while they're running this nonsensical prevent D.
and regarding the backs, i suppose i was only really talking about the running game.
it was interesting to see those two trick plays. there was also that pass on like 3rd & 1 or whatever that i didn't expect. hopefully solari's gonna loosen up a bit.

That's my problem with Herman Edwards thus far.
He isn't playing to his team's strengths.
A good coach accentuates the positives.
He should've left the offense alone and turned his focus to that God awful defense we'd played up until this season.
He has had a defensive focus during his short tenure, but I think scaling back the offense has hurt us a bit. In at least 2 games I can think of this season.
It's hard judging secondary play with no consistent pass rush.
And they're getting no push inside.
I bet all of Warren Sapp's detractors wish we'd made a move for him now.
He's back to Pro Bowl form.
Hell, we might have a Top 10 defense right now...
With Sapp, Hali and Allen? Pssshhhhtt...
I hate even thinking about that.

It was definitely the perfect end to a great year (watching our playoff enterance unfold).
IF[/size:eaf9716be8] the Chiefs play up to thier potential we will[/size:eaf9716be8] beat Indi. We've already shown that we can beat the "best" team in the NFL (San Diego) when all positions are executed correctly. Our teams biggest problem is inconsistency. We looked like Jeckyl and Hyde this year. So if (in my mind it's when) we beat Indi, I hope it pumps the hell out of our *revenge-o-we can meter and leads to bigger stronger minds who don't try to run the ball after comin off a recent injury.
*revenge-o-we can = Beating Indi out of the first round like they did us in '03. In turn giving us the confidence to win at least one more playoff game.
All this adds up to, I'M HYPE! LET'S KICK INDI'S ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Indianapolis has arguably the worst run defense in 10 years.
They surrendered 100 rushing yards to every team they played this year.
You're going to see smash-mouth football come Saturday afternoon.
They can't stop anybody on the ground.
If we can play ball control offense we can beat the Colts.
- Jan 4, 2007 03:36pm by sixer
Yes, but if we play Ball-Control + Oh-Shit-Peyton-hit-Marvin-for-a-TD-before-I-came-back-from-the-bathroom-defense, like we do, we need to pray.
Allen and Hali need to get at him early and often. If they do it too late in the game, Peyton will settle in quickly. I'm guessing Peyton is hardly concerned with our secondary, even Law.
I am just happy my two teams are in, KC and Philly. I doubted both seriously around midseason.
And I think Warren Sapp would go Chester McGlockton in a Chiefs gig.

Ball control is the best offensive strategy for us to take into Indianapolis.
Keep that high-powered offense off the field.
Mathis/Freeney won't allow us many 5 or 7-step drop opportunities.

They had better not depend on the front four to get pressure on Manning (though something tells me our bookends will have a good day on Saturday). I'd like to see Corner (Sapp) and Safety (Knight) blitzes to keep Indianapolis honest.

My boy argued me down about Philly.

They ended up winning the division.

Have you seen what's happened when teams without excellent deep coverage have blitzed Mannning this year? He can take a hit and deliver a touchdown pass at the same time. We need our short and long field to have defenders waiting or he'll march right down the field.
The key on defense is to hold our zones. The way we failed to do in '03 which was more or less why any decent team could run the same play back to back and create momentum against us. The defender who was supposed to have coverage never would in return for tryin to create big plays.
The way you win any game is fundamentally. A lucky 90 yard pass doesn't do much against 30 well executed 10 yard passes.
As far as offense goes I agree. We should play the ground to control the clock, however, Green will pass and he is our biggest handicap. All it takes is one turnover to change the course of a game.
I have no doubt we'll win this game with Herm at the wheel. He knows what's up, and you better believe Gunther's gonna make sure everyone's where they're supposed to be.

I'll still take my chances.
He's not the same QB when the real (playoff) bullets are flying.
PM presses and makes mistakes when he's pressured.
Belichick wrote the book on stopping Manning.
And that gameplan included consistent pressure...
Much of which came from blitzes.
Law and Surtain are no slouches.
Safety help has been a concern with an aging and slower Sammy Knight on one side and Greg "out of position" Wesley on the other, but I think with well placed blitzes the Chiefs will keep Manning and the Indy offense honest.
