anything involving more than one non-white person, they at least look into it. kind of like how any conflict between black and white people is considered to possibly be racially motivated. i had a friend killed in a fight who was slandered by the media as a racist, because the kid who did it was black and was trying to play the race card for his defense... i don't think they understand that kansas city isn't set up for the same kind of gangs that were in colors. blocks aren't as important in kc. the gangs we have are more large scale, closer to organized crime... drug smuggling, corruption, etc. or more generalized among people of an ethnic group. to be more concise, in kc and a lot of cities that aren't as big as L.A. or N.Y., it's not based on where you live and what block you claim and all that, but who you know, who you associate with, and what you do. especially since people around here don't seem to stay in the same hood for too long. so anyway, if something's going to be gang related around here, chances are the police already have some idea of what's going on and what's been going on... rather than a bunch of small gangs infighting semi-randomly. and like i was saying in the other thread, fundamentally i don't see gangs as a bad thing. gangs are the symptom, not the problem... i don't really see a problem with people getting together and forming an identity and a familial/organizational structure when their lifestyles may have very little in the way of other structure or pride... but what makes them do dirt is much deeper than their simply being unified. and if i'm ever in san diego i'll rep the 45th blocc with the rest of my crip cousins because i do see that as a source of pride and security in a lot of ways, it's just not necessary here.

I think anyone including police have a problem with what they don't all the way "fully" understand. I really don't have too much to say to that but, this seems to be the case with MANY people.

That is also an unfortunate truth for many people.
