found this post by E N Elder on Lawrencehiphop.com and had to bring it over:
"Many probably already know, but for those of you that don't the Kansas City murder and violent crime rates have skyrocketed this year! We're only halfway through the year and have already passed last years numbers. Our murder rates have passed big cities like Chicago and Los Angeles. This is something that does'nt just affect gang-bangin rappers and people living in the hood but all of us in Kansas City and the metro area. Seeing as we are not only the youth but the hiphop community we should be aware of our surroundings and know whats going on in our communities. I know many of the rappers on this site already preach peace and awareness and I give them many props. I don't mean ruin anyones day with bad news but an important theme in hiphop has always been awareness, so if ya dont know, now ya know.
Also, muthaf#ckas need to stop tryin to be all f@ckin hard and sh$t, its ignorant. DONT SLEEP!"
