Summer may be done but clubs keep entertainment schedule busy

Summer might be the most social season, but it doesn’t mean the parties end when autumn begins.
There are plenty of parties to keep the scene hot, whether its classic favorites like Hip Hop & Hotwings at the Peanut or newer nights like Thirsty Thursdays at Harling’s, fall is full of surprises.
Here’s a rundown of the new, the old and a few events you-don’t-want-to miss.
[b:dd2bfd7459]Bedroom[/b:dd2bfd7459]. Club NV, 220 Admiral Blvd., is bringing in a little Miami flavor. On Oct. 4 the club will transform into a bedroom for one night. There will be beds at NV, and everyone is invited to the party. Wear pajamas, sit back and enjoy a glass of champagne and the music. There will be drink specials, a ladies lounge, gifts and more. For more information, visit www.nv-kc.com or call (816) 421-6852.
[b:dd2bfd7459]Dancefloor Domination[/b:dd2bfd7459]. Sike Style and Mr. Mafesto spin the first Thursday of every month at the RecordBar, 1020 Westport Road. It’s a night of funk, soul and hip-hop. Plenty of room for booty-shaking, breakdancing and crumping. $3 cover. For more information, visit sikestyle.com.
[b:dd2bfd7459]Feel Sexy[/b:dd2bfd7459]. Miles Bonny kicked off this sexy party this summer at the Hangout, 3611 Broadway. And it is still all the way live every third Saturday with hip-hop, reggae, soul, funk and all sultry sounds. $5 cover. For more information, visit myspace.com/feelsexy.
[b:dd2bfd7459]Hip-Hop & Hotwings[/b:dd2bfd7459]. It’s been more than a year since DJ AJ2 and Beatbroker transformed the Peanut at Ninth and Broadway into a hip-hop haven. It’s one of the few places where all of hip-hop’s elements come together, from rapping and DJing, to breaking and art. It goes down every Sunday at the Peanut for just $2. For more information, visit myspace.com/hiphopandhotwings.
[b:dd2bfd7459]Hump Night[/b:dd2bfd7459]. Madame E and Sucker Punch should have started their ladies night on Wednesday at the Hangout on Broadway. Also be on the lookout for Madame E and more ladies on the dance floor for Bembe Night at the Hangout on Oct. 14.
[b:dd2bfd7459]Main Street Café,[/b:dd2bfd7459] 311 Wyandotte, is an all-ages venue with a serious live music scene. The bands range from rock and emo to acoustic and indie. It also features hip-hop, breakdance, art and poetry. Friday, check out Fresh Digress, Drop Jaw and Dead Republic for $5. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. For more information and show updates, visit mainstreetcafe.org.
[b:dd2bfd7459]Organic Groove[/b:dd2bfd7459]. Every Thursday DJ Marcus Shadden brings house music and hip-hop together for a serious dance party at the Empire Room, 334 E. 31st St. There is no cover charge, and for you late-night party heads, it’s open until 3 a.m.
[b:dd2bfd7459]Scion NextUp video release party for Reach [/b:dd2bfd7459]is Oct. 14 at the RecordBar, 1020 Westport Road. Kansas City emcee Reach won Scion’s NextUp emcee search, and now his first music video is finally out. Celebrate his victory with Reach, C.E.S Cru, Soul Servers, Approach and DJ Sku, D-Will and Rhymedly. $7 cover. There will also be Scion and Sikenomics giveaways.
[b:dd2bfd7459]Skybox,[/b:dd2bfd7459] 503 Walnut, is the new club on the block in the spot where Kabal used to be. Because it’s part sports bar, part nightclub, the jury’s still out on what kind of place it will turn out to be. But with DJ Ataxic as their premier DJ, it should be hot once all the renovations are done. They’re set to host salsa night on Thursdays, hip-hop and house throughout the weekend, and on Mondays they kick things off with Chiefs hour. For more information, visit kansascityskybox.com or call (816) 283-8565.
[b:dd2bfd7459]Thirsty Thursdays[/b:dd2bfd7459]. Every Thursday DJs Mythik and Chris Mills bring the funk and soul to Harling’s, 3941 Main. The night just started, but it seems like a party music lovers won’t want to miss with classic disco and hip-hop in the funky mix. The party starts at 10 p.m. and ends at 1:30 a.m. For more information, visit myspace.com/harlingsthurdays.
