It will be interesting to see how many people view this post with that title 😆 Anyway the reason it's for the nerds is it involves a linux live boot app. Linux is an open source platform and this is a free program. The nerd part is because linux is a pain in the ass sometimes and often involves using command prompt ala dos. That said I've been following audio apps a little and waiting for one like this to come out. I haven't had a chance to check it yet and it probably won't be anything amazing. It's possible there's a future in linux and audio though. They made the software used by Pixar and mac osx is linux based. Here's the link http://www.musix.org.ar/en/index.html

it kind of depends on how many people out there are linux programmers as well as musicians... open source would be great for music, because i'm sure there's plenty of things people wish they could do with their music software if only they could add a feature to whatever program.

Even on Windows there's quite a few independant programmers that will listen to feature requests with an open mind. Open source is cool in a few ways imo like nothing costing any money (unless you want the packaged product), it's not a bloated os which allows more free memory and less processor usage, they have so many distros that it's easy to find one configured to fit what you do most (the big problem is there's usally more configuring which involves knowledge of C), the unix kernal is the foundation for osx and most servers run off it, the most important part of it is that it seems to be a long lasting low impacting rebel movement and those always hold some strange spot in my heart. I'm all for it, but the reality is linux is still pretty far behind in many areas that people have gotten used to including myself.
