I don't have the words to describe her voice.
One of the very best voices of the last quarter-century. Easy...
Puts me in the mind of both Kim Burrell and Ella Fitzgerald.
Absolutely breathtaking.
I thought Fantasia Barrino was to be the last great voice for some time.
I couldn't have been more mistaken.
See for yourself.

The "Round Midnight" cover could add 2 days to your life.

she should stick to jazz and lose the r&b...

i agree.
stick to jazz, or at least find a new producer and studio situation, that recording is mediocre at best.
The Round Midnight was indeed memorable. thanks

It's obvious that those are two of her three biggest influences.
The other being Gospel.
I think her voice lends itself to R&B/Soul though.
And then again, she's only 19. I don't think there's much shelf-life for a Jazz vocalist of her age.
She needs the kind of musical support that might best be found on a label.
I'd like to see her align herself with TOJ or perhaps Kanye.
They have the kind of vision that could help push her over the top.

I don't think her r&b flavor is bad...I can say that she was killer on Round Midnight...oh, that was live too.
thanks for the referral.

Me either. With that voice... She can do just about anything musically.

i don't think anyone should do r&b, personally. unless they're being produced by timbo.

On a second inspection of "Round Midnight" I can hear Lady Day...
She seems to be a heavy influence as well.
Similar vocal timbre. Dusty, light, fluttery...

That definitely was a unique version. Great voice, I was turned off at the beggining because it felt overdone but I liked when the backup vocals come in. She could really shine as an rnb artist.

She's got a bright future ahead of her.
If she aligns herself with the right people she'll be wildly successful.
Covering a Jazz standard such as 'Round Midnight' tells me she has the wherewithal to do so.
