My question is not which champagne, but why champagne in the first place? Someone posted the root article of this awhile back.

Jay needs to stop patronizing a handful of other companies too if that's the case.

hiphop local and state to country and worldwide needs to recognize what a voting/buying force/block it represents and start making some quality changes possible instead of being happy for the leavings hiphop is making the rich richer at a faster rate than it's creating new wealthy ponder that shit ya feel you are the new and raising money making trend setting force big portion of this of course are middle and late adapters (meaning hiphop is close to 40 years old as a way of life now) now its about consumers of hiphop culture. hiphop has come to be considered popular or POP culture and ICONIC MAINSTREAM SATURATED. HIPHOP CULTURE in the broader sense is MORPHED AND GENTRIFIED

That article was really interesting. It's amazing to watch two ends of the "class" spectrum meet. I don't mean upper and lower class. I mean 'refined' class, and 'pimp' class. And the refined is trying to figure out how to link up with the pimp. This is some sort of anomoly, and the way that article broke down the taste and bottling qualities of champagnes, as well as the phoenetical importance of the name when used in raps is showed that very well. I've never read an analysis at all like that... anyway. I agree with you NRG. It's hardly hiphop that's generating any of this cash flow. In the sense of what the music is about, I don't feel like these companies are benefitting from any of the elemental, communal, or more creative aspects of hiphop. It's like purely the gangster and street personas. And maybe we should feel as deserving of that loot, and those connections, but truthfully the money that these record execs tap into, as well as your G-Units and other thug personas, isn't money that hiphop could/would ever tap into simply because our interest is more in the art, less about the money and representing the material. The reason champagne companies want their patronage is because these cats are loud, braggadocious advertisements. So, the question is, what money/media can we tap into as the 'hiphop' community? A lot of people recognize the difference between hiphop and rap. Some say there is none. But I think we're maybe quick to get green-eyed at what those other cats are getting, when the cost in personal integrity to aquire the same things would be more than we're willing to sacrifice. Not sure this responds to exactly what you were getting at, but your statement got me thinking. I really feel like what they do has nothing to do with me, though I feel I stand as a representative of the hiphop communtiy 100%. What do you think?
