I recieved an MPD16 from a friend, but I recieved no editing software with it, (on the AKAI site it says that it comes with editing software) I am wondering if anyone here has that editing software that comes witht the AKAI MPD16 ? P.S. I have of course tried the obvious avenues before asking the great minds here. Thanks-

If you are running xp it is probably plug and play. If you are using it inside of fruity loops you can configure everything to fit how you want it to control from there. If that doesn't work try this link http://www.akaipro.com/software/OS/MPD16/mpd_101.zip

You can loop record like on a regular sampler if you have a controller, or program via the piano roll without need for a controller.

I am a whiz in Acid, I really want to get more hands on with my next projects and expand my knowledge, dont get me wrong I obviously know what you mean, it all seems so tedious and I am an old dog, know what I mean.

is really easy to record in the piano roll. Then you can have more flexibility with your beat. and if you want, you can still quantize to get a more stiff beat (is that what you're looking for?)
