Topic: do the hustle.
- Jul 13, 2006 11:30pm by phism
so i wait tables, and it's been insanely slow the entire summer. i haven't made more than $35 a night for two weeks, monday i made $16.
i need to start doing something on the side. what do you do for extra cash?
i know sike's got it locked on this topic and maybe i should be asking for some pointers from him, heh.
i need to start djing more often.. i have a bunch of t-shirt ideas i never got printed, i should also put a store on my website for shit. i should start selling weed to all my pothead friends since i don't smoke.
i think i should just rob people as they leave the restaurant though, fucking hallbrook yuppies.

Man. Find something you're better at than most and figure out how to make a business out of it. Don't try and get into something new when you're needing loot. For instance, making t-shirts takes over-head and the time needed to get them sold. Sike makes that happen cause it's about all he does. Believe me, I live with the dude. Every once in a while he kills people in video games, but mostly he spends his freetime looking over inventory checklists, counting buttons or folding t-shirts, and this is when he's not designing them.
I make extra loot doing art commissions and album covers and shit. I know dudes that I pay extra money just to help me with my computer.
Get in where you fit in and do it professionally. First you do it professionally, and then you get professionally paid. It's not the other way around.
good luck

i'm really good at sitting. and being morose.
maybe there's a job opening for "old guy muppets who criticize everything"
p.s. there was a guy at my work that looked exactly like one of those old guys.

folks often have the wrong idea about what a hustle is. they often think cuz it's on the side and maybe down lo, they can make loot fast. if you need $20 maybe but not if you really need bank.
[quote:7418c9bb7e]Sike makes that happen cause it's about all he does. Believe me, I live with the dude. Sike is the minister of propaganda. If anyone could spit game on street entrepreneurialism it would be sike. Props

I used to make and sale bake goods, and do childcare in another time in my life. I am a massage practitioner, but I also teach touch, talk touch and teach and talk the business practices of touch.

Lucid you are telling truth here. Just having a talent/skill is not enough. there are lots of folk out there who don't make things but they know how deliver things to the people . example the whole music and fine art industry is centered round people with talent who won't/can't/ [don't have the bank it would take/want to get on now mindset so can't take time for the slow build thang] do both their talent or skill and get it out to the people
getting the people interested, willing to listen, make that first buy, and then buy again that is the business part behind talent and skill.
and professional hah now that's everything i mentioned above with the following added qualities: consistent, reliable, customer oriented, and available
now that's the sh*t income is made from.

Low risk... Low return.
You really don't wanna go to prison over a $300 hustle (at best).
Yeah, sell that weed, or rob the nigga supplyin them (you need to have folks to do this, for retaliation purposes)
Or...
Before you stated you were a "genius". Get a better job then! 🙄
Trust me. You don't wanna start a career as a G at your age. You don't wanna learn what 13 year olds are learnin. Do you? 😯
On the real, you're jokin... right?

Very well said. They call it work for a reason and work is a 4 letter word. A real nice fact to know is the worst boss I ever had was myself. It takes disipline and motivation. It's possible I've gotten better in those areas and am about to try again.

ah yes...the hustle...
that's how it starts that for sure...then as lucid stated it becomes all you do.
that's pretty much how things have become...i've started with some small ideas and things kept growing. people wanted buttons..so i made button...girls wanted undies..so i made those etc...it just started snowballing...
my new hustle is charging for business advice and other artist / event production consulting...that'll be $100 dollars and hr please...
haha
SIKE!
seriously...the t-shirts designs were cool man...t-shirt are good sales items..but the do take some up front capital..
djing doesn't really pay unless you have a regular gig or a mix tape to slang...which could be made easily with today's tech savy world.
umm...there is are also some ways to make money on the net...setting up hosting servers...selling webnames....doing simple html for people...etc..
there are a lot of things that i think you'd be good at Phism...
jackie says you are best massage guy around...
the world is your oyster...or shrimp basket...whichever you like..
