Tsk, Tsk, Tsk...
Lately there's been much ado about Oprah's alleged distaste for rappers.
Ice Cube has been at the forefront of this public outcry. Telling everyone within earshot how he's been victimized by Winfrey.
In a recent interview (FHM, July issue) Cube told the mag, "maybe she's got a problem with Hip Hop." He quickly cites being snubbed for an appearance on her show when "Barbershop" was released. "For 'Barbershop,' she had Cedric the Entertainer and Eve on, but I wasn't invited." Uh...was he unaware that Eve, herself, is a Rap act?
Okay, okay...
So I don't care much that he's whining about not getting the opportunity to...appear on a show that doesn't appeal to his core audience (go figure)...
My problem is...
In a television interview yesterday he spent a couple minutes throwing a hissy fit about Oprah, but when he was asked about the absence of Blacks in the new Fall lineups all of a sudden he had nothing to say.
So let me get this straight...
You take issue with the most successful Black person not named Cosby to ever make waves on the small screen, but you have nothing to say about the suits who all but deny the existence of African-Americans in the average sitcom?
Hmm...
I see it now... I really do.

personally i do believe oprah has a distaste for rappers and goes about addressing it the wrong way...
her intentions seem good but misguided, she always criticizes the content and the image they portray but how often does she let any rappers on there to defend themselves...
and on the [size=4:6914fb01e9][b:6914fb01e9]rare occasion[/b:6914fb01e9][/size:6914fb01e9] that she lets a rapper on her show for any occasion (ex. ludacris for crash) she attacks them...
but at the same time crying about it on another show probably won't do anything to help the problem, and from what you said he's intentions sounded selfish...

I might understand his frustration, say, a decade ago, but I can't understand why he's so interested in being featured on a show that members of his core audience have no interest in.
She doesn't exactly have an open door to R&B/Soul acts to come on the show, but you don't hear Alicia Keys complaining about it.
I don't have a problem with whatever his problem with O is...
What chaps me is he got quiet when it came time to discuss the plight of the African-American actor on the small screen. There's something to complain about. He won't do that though. Cause he has vested interest in television.
