Well...it's kinda like a contest...but then not that deep.
If you read the following description you'll understand the message behind this new campaign. There will be bookelts made to keep in your car so when you get pulled over you'll know your rights and have all your information handy. To go a long with this seminar and book we would like to have a CD to go with it.
A mix cd of songs related to the struggle against police brutality. Hip Hop is full of songs like this...we are looking for a 60 min mix to be feat. with the seminar as a promotional tool to accompany the handbook.
The mix that is chosen will see distribution in major cities where this talk is given and also recieve some loot for the mix.
We are in the begining stages of this grassroots effort right now and we are excited to see who is interested and what people come up with.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING:
So often black men find themselves on the losing side of the criminal justice game, not necessarily because of what they have done but unfortunately because of what they’ve SAID. Knowing exactly what to say or more importantly what not to say during an encounter with the police could mean the difference between a home-cooked meal and being fed slop on a jail tray.
Shut Your Black Ass Up is a candid, no nonsense session designed to increase your understanding of the inner-workings of law enforcement agencies and level the playing field between black men and the police. With the use of actual audio and visually recorded police encounters as well as live role play, participants will develop a keen understanding of exactly what to do during a police encounter to reduce or eliminate their chances of going to jail or worse.
This session should particularly benefit those who know that the “Driving While Black†phenomenon is alive and well. There is no question of the historic adversarial relationship between black men and police that continues to this day. Armed with the timely information provided in this session, you be well prepared when a police encounter happens to you.

This also Applys to us Hispanics....
I have a PERFECT driving record....
and
Jus Last Month I was Pulled over for some Bullshit.
I was driving in Shawnee Kansas on a sunday morning to get the kids some Mcdonalds.
I was heading east as the cop was heading west.
We made eye contact. then next thing you ... i look in my rear view mirror and see him do a U-Turn....
he followed me for a good 3 or 4 blocks.... then decided to pull me over..
First thing i asked was.. " Sir , why am i bieng Pulled over.."..
He said.. " I clocked you doing 50 in a 30."...
I said " No way Possible.. You are lying...I have a perfect driving record and always stay aware of my speed. ..I have the right to see the radar read out. Can i have a look?"..
He said " No." Then Had the fucking Nerve to ask me... " So Where wer you going?"
and then asked for the 3 things... Licence , proof of insurance, and Registration...
Well.. my luck.. All i had was my frickin licence....
Now.. i do have proof of Insurance and registration.. jus didnt have it in my car........
...
well he comes back .. and gives me a ticket... But not For speeding .. (The Main reason he Pulled me over.)... Jus the no Proof of ins. and registration....
Now.. Call me crazy ..but.. I would have felt much better if he would have jus wrote me a ticket for speeding.... But since he didnt., I felt a sense of Racial Profiling of a small degree... I keep replaying the moment we caught Eyes.... and thinking that HE Is thinking , Let's see what this spic is up to. ...I'm sure He was disappointed he didnt smell weed when he came up to the window... as well as to see a mexican talk with Respect .. everything out my mouth was Sir this Sir that...
well all in all... I did get the ticket Dismissed at the courthouse and didnt even have to go to court..... all i had to do was bring my proof there...and it's over...
.....
I jus thought id share this personal run in with the good ole shawnee Police Dept...
.
My point i wanted to bring up tho is .. Hispanics Go Thru the same profiling as the Blacks in america.... And I sense that In the future it's only gonna Get worse for the Hispanics... cause of this new Bill that Might Pass...... If it does then hispanics will be pulled over for nonsense jus to see if he Packin his Green Card.........
cause if the bill passes... It makes it a FELON to be a illegal immigrate.
More reason to pull people over....

hey everyone...
i've been working on my chain letter writing skills..
i guess i read so many of them that i start to type like that as well..
haha..
but trust me...this is legit and brand new. i am writing this on behalf of a friend who is getting this seminar going and need some graphic and promotional help.
so that's where i come in.
if anyone wants to know more don't hesitate to e-mail Spark.
SG you are right this could be directed towards any minority and still be benificial...
as for the partriot act....hmm...maybe in the presentation there might some points about it. but this seminar / booklet focuses mainly on traffic stops. but it could apply just about anywhere.

I know that story all too well SG.
I work in Shawnee (just up the street from that McDonald's).
I had the exact same situation on the Missouri side 2 months ago.
I was driving home from a show (at 2 on the AM side of the dial) and as I was traveling west the officer, going east, did a U-turn and began to follow me. At this point he was at least 2 blocks behind me. Because of the distance I calmly turned off of the main road to avoid him. I never sped up or anything. He followed me anyway... As I was pulling out of a stop sign back onto Blue Ridge he stops me. Tells me I didn't stop at the sign. Mind you he was more than a block behind me (he wasn't close enough to have seen my brake lights).
I didn't have my insurance either...
He ticketed me for failure to stop at a sign.
I was a block from my house when he stopped me.

this is dope...the local scene should try to come together and put out more projects like this.its good to see yall taking the annitiative, for real.as with most of us,this is an issue real close to my heart.and not to plug my own shit, but i thought it was revelant--i have a joint near completion called "k.c.p.d."--produced by johnny quest--about my own experiences with the brutality of police in kansas city-i dont think a lot of people espescially out in the suberbs realize how corrupted the k.c.p.d. is,they have a history of being one of the worst police departments in the nation.i've literally nearly lost my life twice at the hands of these sadistic fucks....but yea,i'll get it posted and all that before this mix tape is complete.but if yall need any help at all with anything that has to do with this,im down for whatever.much respect....peace
...actually i just read back over the thread, and im kinda confused--this isnt a local thing?

heh, i'm not black or hispanic (not white either, though) and i think i get pulled over sometimes just because of the car i drive. 1985 buick riviera.
when they realize i don't have hoes or kilos in the car they usually let me go.

Man...I got pulled over in Kansas like a year and a half ago for expired tags. My tags weren't expired, and they were properly displayed on the back of my car. Dude said I had stolen them and was lying to him about it, brought K9's, had them sniff, rummaged through my car with a fine-toothed comb, and ended the hour long ordeal giving me a ticket for expired tags. (got it dropped without incident)
I'm white as hell. Their classifications go way beyond just racial profiling. I wasn't treated at all as innocent until proven guilty. In fact, there was nothing short of calling a lawyer right then that could have kept him out of my car. Its anything, from the hat you wear, to the stickers on your whip, whatever. But Kansas is the worst I've ever experienced. Shit, I could benefit from that handbook for sure.
For real though, ya'll should sample the Police on some beat shit. Might be a good challenge for the producers. I wanna hear "Every move you make..." to some kick,kick/snare...haha, maybe not. I'll bet Dj P's already mixed that somewhere.

Last year I got pulled over in Parkville on the way to see my girl. I was doin everything legal including wearing my seatbelt. This fuckin pig has the nerve to walk up to my window and tell me "Your lights are too bright." Wait, it gets worse. Right after the initial question, without even giving me a chance to answer he says "You been drinkin?" WHAT THE FUCK!!! I explained that no I hadn't been drinking and that I believed I was being racially profiled (yeah, I said it straight to his face) I also let him know that my lights were factory lights that came with the car. He looked amazed. I guess the Parkville pigs are used to "good obeying negroes". After I accused him of profiling me he got real nervous so I played his strings till he gave up. Everytime he'd say something else to me I just responded "I know exactly what's going on here." He eventually left saying "Well, you might wanna get those lights checked out." Are pigs really this stupid??? What, I'm gonna go to my mechanic and be like, "uh, could you take a look at my lights?"

I've really only had one really bad experience with the police...not counting the times I was actually doing something wrong.
I was leaving Columbia, Mo...my fiance' went to school there...and on the way out of town on Broadway a cop comes screaming up behing be with their lights blazing. I assumed they were headed to an emergency with how fast they were going so I just pulled into a drugstore lot to get out of the way (the street was 1 lane each way with no shoulder). Anyway, apparently they were after ME. I was fucking pissed b/c I was going live 5 under...next thing I know both the cops were out of their car with guns drawn on the bullhorn telling me to turn the car off and get out with my hands up.
At that point I was a combination of scared out of my mind (I don't like guns point at me) and super fucking pissed off. I started yelling and asking what the fuck was going on. The whole time both guns are pointed at me. Apparently, a car matching mine had JUST been stolen across town and they thought I was the culprit.
Just mistaken I identity right? WRONG. Once they realized they had the wrong dude, I asked them to apologize for being dicks and pointing their guns at me. Instead the dude gets all snarkey and basically accusses me of being high (I didn't smoke weed in college), and threatens to search my car and take me to jail. I told him to fuck off and search my car if he wanted to b/c it was totally clean. He just stared at me and said I could go.
I would say fuck the police but being a patrol cop is probably the WORST job in the world. I would rather be a fucking janitor.
I'm white BTW.
