I just want to take a quick moment to express to all of you my feelings
regarding HH&HW's new relationship with the fine folks at Record Bar.
First off, these guys rule! I can't begin to tell you how great the entire staff and especially Steve has been to us. They are making much bigger things possible by helping me with some of the upfront overhead costs to bring touring acts through. This will not only allow for more frequent shows but also for larger scale shows with bigger name artists.
Beyond the financial assistance it's obviously a much more appropriate venue for any kind of live performance and shows will sound and feel much better than they ever did at the Peanut.
Finally, they have taken it upon themselves to create their own hotwing recipe and have added it to the menu just for us and for the sake of the name. I thought that was cool as hell. Effective immediately:: Hotwings
will be the special of the night for every one of our events that we host at Record Bar.
All of that said, i truly hope that all of you will make the effort to come out and support hiphop shows at Record Bar so we can keep a good thing going. They've gone far out of their way to try and create a new home for us to convene and enjoy what we love. Come show them that it's appreciated. If we can maintain solid attendance, i promise to bring through as many dope shows as possible and will always take your suggestions seriously.
I'm looking forward to the coming year and what it may bring for
hiphop in KC. Please help me make it swell.

the last hip hop & hot wings i attended was so cramped and crowded,in such a small venue, that it was virtually impossible to actually have a conversation with someone, with the music being played at the level it was..so it just kinda looked like a bunch of people looking really cool.i've never been to the record bar...i'd like to attend another sometime, but it would be dope if you could actually hear the person you go with talk.let me know....by the way-they got this wing sauce at the dollar store thats the shit!

I do have to say I am disappointed that there will not be a wing buffet as promised.
I don't care who you bring in, If I cant get some wings for paying a cover over $10.00 bones.... I dunno.
I mean Akil was killing it no doubt.....But I paid the cover and the kitchen was closed a little after 11:00pm
No Wings for me?

Wings have been developed and placed on the menu at a special price
for all of our events. To me, that's huge.
I'm awfully sorry that we can't afford to give away the wings with the
cover yet. It costs a lot to bring these kind of artists out.
For now, i'm happy to have the venue after all that went down
at the Vast show. One thing at a time.
The wing buffets will (for now) only be possible when we don't have the expensive overhead of a touring rapper. Nov. 30th will be the first like that. In reality though it will probably be a wing plate that you're entitled to for paying cover. The logistics of the buffet itself would prove an inconvenience if the room were to get packed. Not to mention the health risks involved. We'll see though. I really envision the buffet more.
All other nights will feature reduced price wing specials.
If we can develop a consistent turnout for each event, then we'll
return the favor by trying to work the wings into the price all the time
but neither the Record Bar or myself is interested in losing our assess
every time we spend money.
It's in the plans Ace, but we need help from you to get to a point where
we can afford to offer it all the time.
and yes, the kitchen will always close at 11pm. that's how it was at the peanut too.

That was my stomach talking....
I hear you loud about the money thing tho. For the most part I've really liked everyone you've brought in. some people don't realize that Kansas City was on a dry spell (kinda still is) as far as artists goes. So being able to see, everyone that I have seen via HHHW, was ultra-dope. Some kids take it for granted. I understand that some of that talent takes time, money, and some shit you got a lot of....patience.
Props and Respect
Thanks man.
Im excited to see what they done cooked up.

I appreciate all that you and steve are doing to take it to the next level for hiphop and mid-upper range shows.
I realize how much is at stake, how much crap steve as venue owner and you as co promoter as getting from the city of kansas city.
I will attend as possible and support both of you, any way I personally can.
I will work for the continued success of HH&HW events and success for the Record bar in general.
I have been impressed since its opening, with how it totally supports the local music scene (all genres) and the quality of events they present, not to mention, they way they pay, house, feed and beverage touring artists.
looking forward to great shows

whoa!
don't take it personally.
the short answer: Sometimes?
to sum it up:
while dj's are spinning it will be at comfortable levels for conversation most of the time. The sound system is bangin enough that we don't have to max it out to be heard like we used to have to do at the nut.
That said. while performers on on stage, it gets loud as all hell in there, and there's really not anywhere but outside to escape to.

I don't check the forums too often. Always seems like the same handful of cats posting comments; most of them I don't know. But I still like to see what is being said every now and then when it isn't "my top ten favorite MCs" list.
You should read my blog and comment. Make me feel like we're writing for more than ourselves, will ya? lol.
Looking forward to seeing you, bro.
