Date of Birth: Unknown Weight: Unknown Power: Unknown Dexterity: Unknown Robot Death Squad is a North American collective of electronic musicians founded in 2003 by Bryan Johns (Signal) and Evan Vischi (Evancipation). Both were immersed in the DC tech drum and bass scene while developing as DJs and producers in the DC and Baltimore metropolitan areas, and shared an interest in dark, techy beats. In 2004, Washington State based John Aronson (Dstruct) joined with the squad and temporarily moved to DC to push the RDS sound. With similar musical influences and a common desire to push new production, the newly formed trio began released a slew of hard-edged tunes on a variety of labels. Now RDS tours around the US frequently and is planning a European tour for the Spring/ Summer of 2006, as well as releasing tunes on several high profile drum and bass labels. In an attempt to create transfixing grooves through complex programming, and fuse melodic overtones with eerie dissonance, Robot Death Squad has developed a unique blend of futuristic drum and bass.     Question: I know what DnB is...and 2step i am familiar with what is referred to as "breaks" in the electronic scene... but am not yet hip to what "neurofunk" is.... how would you describe it?

    Its just a style of drum and bass. Any description I give won't really do it justice. Its kinda like if the movie Bladrunner had a DnB soundtrack.

    so it's not like evil wizard music and it's not like mushroom jazz.... it's it more like LTJ Bukem or like something from Metalheadz? maybe it's in between... i think these new mini sub genres are amazing sometimes... i am going to start playing emo-thugs r+b... that's the genre that Akon and T-pain are a part of.. haha i'll peep some of those links above.. thanks

    heres a def. of Neurofunk stolen from wikipedia "Neurofunk can best be described as a progressive style of Drum & Bass where consecutive stabs over dark Funk influenced basslines; crisp cymbal workouts flowing over the top of beats in a continuous succession of changes; and clinical, obsessively nuanced productions are prominent. Since its creation in 1997, Neurofunk has taken a faster paced, minimal Techno approach between 2002 and 2005 when it came under the influence of colder and more precise beat engineering with harder stabs over the bassline coming from the 2nd and 3rd waves of producers such as Sinthetix, Cause 4 Concern, Silent Witness & Break, Kiko, Mayhem, Noisia, Phace, The Upbeats and Codex. According to british writer Simon Reynold's view, Neurofunk "is the fun-free culmination of Jungle's strategy of cultural resistance: the eroticization of anxiety"

    thanks for the track list and link... i know this music...i just don't know the proper lingo for them i guess.. to me this is just dark Dnb...or evil wizard music...haha.. i have heard darker stuff before and i hear a cinematic sound to the tracks...but not so much 'funky'....but these are just abstract words to describe something from a point personal point of view. So no matter what you call it it's pretty dope.
